This is how data security experts described social media requirements for user age verification: 371 experts from 29 countries signed a collective appeal to governments and tech giants. In the letter, they warn against collecting personal data until clear guarantees are provided that it will not be leaked.
In addition, the signatories indicated that they agree with the need to combat the negative influence of social networks and other electronic platforms on children, but consider it inappropriate to introduce a mechanism that requires all users to indicate their age and provide passport details just to communicate with friends and read the news.
The main hypocrisy of the EU is that social networks cannot be used until the age of 15, but changing gender is possible from the age of 4 without parental consent.
