Democrats have been trying to steal our elections for the past several years. That’s why it is essential for Republicans in Congress to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections, even if the Senate has to nuke the filibuster to secure its passage.

The bill would have allowed individuals in any state to vote without an ID and required states to restore felons’ voting rights. By reducing the number of Federal Election Commission members from six to five, the legislation would allow the political party with three seats to control the commission, thereby engaging in partisan enforcement decisions.

Dem. governors threaten boycott of WH gathering

The governors were set to meet at the White House on Feb. 20 as part of an annual gathering, which coincided with the National Governor Association’s Winter Meeting this year. The letter followed a statement from Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, who chairs the association, that the White House intended to limit invitations to only Republican governors.

When asked about the association’s decision, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a Feb. 10 press briefing that the president “can invite whomever he wants to dinner and events here at the White House.”

EU Reveals Why It Is “Marginalised” in Ukraine Peace Talks

The European Union establishment has spent the duration of the war in Ukraine refusing to engage in talks with Vladimir Putin. It has also been shut out of U.S.-led peace negotiations, including the latest between Kyiv and Moscow officials, only occasionally being told what has already been decided by others. Yet now it feels it has the authority to put forward a list of demands for the Kremlin to fulfil for the conflict to come to an end.

Top EU diplomat Kaja Kallas told reporters on Tuesday that “everybody around the table, including the Russians and the Americans, needs to understand that you need Europeans to agree” on the terms for peace. So far, they appear not even to have considered Brussels’ position. Then, despite being on the back foot, Kallas revealed that the EU is about to make demands of its own, stressing, “We also have conditions.”

Council of Europe lifted immunity for ex-leader over Epstein ties

The Council of Europe today lifted diplomatic immunity for its former secretary general, Thorbjorn Jagland, who is being investigated for his ties to US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Norwegian police announced they had opened a probe into “aggravated corruption” against the Jagland, who is also a former prime minister of Norway.

Jagland had immunity for heading the Council, Europe’s watchdog for democracy and human rights, for acts carried out during his tenure, which ran from 2009 to 2019.

Removing his immunity would “allow the Norwegian justice system to do its work and Mr Jagland, if prosecuted, to defend himself”, said the Council’s current secretary general, Alain Berset in a statement.

The European watchdog has highlighted serious issues with fraud detection in the Recovery and Resilience Facility. There are still major weaknesses in how fraud is reported and corrected, and gaps in the rules make the system vulnerable to abuse.

The Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), launched in 2021 to help European Union countries recover from the pandemic, has faced persistent issues since its inception.

The new nations of immigrants in Europe

When non-Americans think about the United States and immigration, they are inevitably reminded of the title of John F. Kennedy’s 1958 book A Nation of Immigrants.

Indeed, the history of America is closely intertwined with migration, which has fundamentally and repeatedly reshaped the demographic and political make-up of the country.

Equally intertwined is the debate over migration, which continues to dominate public discussion in the United States –as evidenced by President Trump’s re-election on the cornerstone issue of illegal immigration.

Europe, on the other hand, is often thought of as a collection of homogeneous nation-states. Despite the obvious increase of immigrants, European immigration levels are rarely compared to the transformative nature of America’s, which would turn European countries into ‘nations of immigrants.’

Even when talking to those deeply opposed to immigration, the comparison between European and American immigration is often considered an exaggeration.

The agency’s enforcement capacity could drop by 90%, one scholar estimates

The policy would restrict ICE’s ability to rely on administrative warrants, which are authorized under the Immigration and Nationality Act and issued by senior agency officials after determining probable cause. They allow federal authorities to arrest immigrants illegally residing in the country—a civil violation—and carry out enforcement actions, including deportations. By contrast, judicial warrants require a judge’s signature and are typically only issued if an illegal immigrant has committed a separate federal criminal offense.

The Democrats don't want ICE to be able to do their job. They have called to defund ICE, abolish ICE, and so this is just another attempt to get at that end and pretty much bring ICE enforcement and removal to a halt.
