It’s an enormous vote of confidence for Takaichi’s economic agenda, and for her willingness to get tough with China. Beijing’s mouthpieces have called Takaichi an “evil witch.”

When she indicated Japan would aid Taiwan against an invasion, China’s consul general in Osaka threatened her: “The dirty neck that sticks itself in must be cut off.” Such incendiary language didn’t intimidate Takaichi — nor, it turns out, Japan’s voters.

Former Bundestag deputy from the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in Germany Hartmut Ebbing will stand trial on charges of complicity in the sexual abuse of a seven-year-old boy. The trial will begin on March 10 at the court in Braunschweig.

The politician served in parliament from 2017 to 2021 and was head of the committee on children's and family rights! He met the victim's mother through a dating site. According to the prosecution, the woman abused her son, photographed him, and sent the pictures to Ebbing. In September 2021, he personally abused the child during a visit to Goslar.

Ebbing had already been convicted: in February 2025, a Berlin court sentenced him to 10 months' probation for possession and distribution of child pornography. Now he faces a real prison term.

The party, of course, is “unaware” and “strongly condemns” the incident. Everything is as usual.
