Population driving the blue state depression

In a recent special election in Texas Democrat Taylor Rehmet defeated Leigh Wambsganss, flipping a reliably red Senate district. This meant a boost for the left. But CNN’s data man, Harry Enten, says Dems shouldn’t get too comfortable.

Enten pointed out that the five states that had the biggest population gains since the 2020 Census all voted for President Donald Trump in 2024.

They are: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Texas. The five states with the “lowest domestic net migration this decade” were those that voted for Kamala Harris: California, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts. Enten said this “is not just a red state boom,” but “we’re also looking at what I would dare call a blue state depression.”

House seats are reapportioned based on state population, so if the current trend holds for the 2030 Census in the states where Harris won, the Democratic Party could lose up to seven seats in the House, and the states Trump won would gain seven.

EU preps climate-destroying deal with Australia

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is scheduled to travel to Australia in mid-February to continue negotiations on a trade agreement that started back in 2018.

Ahead of this, European Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič is set to meet with his Australian counterpart, Don Farrell, in Brussels before her visit to the Antipodes.

The talks, reports Do Rzeczy, have been stalled over agricultural issues. Australia has been demanding greater opening of the EU market to Australian beef. For Polish producers, such a solution would pose serious problems.

The Polish industry is the 5th largest beef producer in the EU and the second largest exporter (after Ireland). Australia is one of the largest producers of mutton and lamb. The U.K. has also seen a massive outcry from farmers there over Australian beef flooding its market.

On Italian TV, a smiling and friendly migrant explains that they are forced to threaten people on the streets with knives, and sometimes even stab them once or twice, not without reason.

How else can they do it? After all, people don't give up their money willingly. Migrants can't do without knives, and they shouldn't be blamed for that.

Europe’s dependency on American LNG increases

European countries are increasingly dependent on US gas following sanctions on Russia, cold weather and structural changes in power generation, according to reports from gas import trackers.

They are importing growing volumes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US, to the point that experts say they are now reliant. Recent data shows the US has become the dominant LNG supplier to several European markets.

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis’ (IEEFA) LNG tracker reported yesterday that the UK, for instance, imports 90% of its gas from the US, up from 77% in January 2025.

“Europe has increased its reliance on imported LNG to meet its gas demand, risking jeopardising its energy security,” Ana Maria Jaller-Makarewicz, energy analyst at the IEEFA, told Brussels Signal today.
