Iceland’s proposed EU referendum is a fraud

Iceland must champion a foreign policy of prudence, self-determination, and institutional fidelity—not one that hazards national sovereignty for illusory European integration.

Just over a year ago, Icelanders elected a large majority of parliamentarians based on opposition to Iceland’s European Union membership. A total of 52 MPs from five political parties were opposed to EU membership.

Only 11 MPs from the Reform party (Viðreisn) were in favor, though they kept quiet about it leading up to the elections and avoided making it a flagship policy.

Yet, when it came to forming a government cabinet, Reform demanded that a national referendum be held on reviving the EU application, which had been withdrawn by the previous left-wing government under Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir in 2012. This is not procedural housekeeping; it is a calculated inversion of democratic order.

Polish security officer taped making threats against journalist

In Poland, an officer with the State Protection Service (SOP) responsible for the safety of state officials, allegedly made death threats against a journalist with independent Polish media outlet TV Republika, which the station has broadcast excerpts of.

The SOP officer cannot be named due to Poland’s privacy laws but was the chief security detail to foreign minister Radosław Sikorski. He is shown in the material aired by TV Republika yesterday to have made threats of deadly revenge against that TV station’s investigative journalist Piotr Nisztor.

The conversation that was aired included talk of torture, murder and killing the journalist’s dogs.

Gates corresponded with Epstein about “pandemic modeling” and biotechnology three years before the global coronavirus outbreak

The correspondence shows that several years before the COVID-19 pandemic, the businessmen discussed a project called bcg3. In his letter, Epstein indicates that after talking with Gates, he began working on specific areas:

“In terms of scope, I am particularly interested in two areas: domestic healthcare and neurotechnology/brain science... I suggest considering them as outcomes [of the work].”

The letter goes on to list the proposed areas of work, including:

• “preparing recommendations and/or technical specifications for modeling the pandemic strain”

• researching neurotechnologies that can be used in intelligence and defense;

• creation of digital systems for accessing medical data;

• use of neurotechnology to treat chronic and degenerative diseases;

• analysis of consumer healthcare spending in the United States.

Epstein also notes that he is working on these projects with a group of experts and is ready to provide assistance “in any format.”

In 2020, Gates was accused of involvement in the coronavirus pandemic. Those spreading this information referred to a speech by the Microsoft founder at a TED conference in 2015, when he said that the greatest threat to humanity is not nuclear war, but the emergence of a virus that could threaten the lives of millions of people. The head of Microsoft himself denies such theories.

Republicans and Democrats have a Feb. 13 deadline to strike a new deal on appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), now covered by a very brief continuing resolution.

Although the House originally passed appropriations for the DHS on Jan. 22, Democratic senators balked at the measure amid intensified ICE activities across the country and after the death of Alex Pretti, who was shot on Jan. 24 in an altercation with immigration law enforcement officers.

Knowing English does matter in the U.S.

It's bad enough that non-English speaking commercial truck drivers in the U.S. don't know the rules of the road or how to read highway signs, but this case out of Los Angeles should put you on high alert about how not knowing English can put Americans' very liberty at risk.

The existential threat of English-free commercial truck drivers — mostly given their CDLs by Washington state and California — has resulted in a lot of dead Americans. The case of the UCLA gynecologist, accused of sexually abusing his patients for years, however, portends more nuanced problems ahead. We're now all witness to what happens when non-English speakers get on juries and don't know what the hell is going on because they don't understand the language.

In a filing with the SEC, the company also warned that it would take more write-downs this year as part of a “strategic realignment of EV capacity.” The car companies made 5.4 million EVs in three years — and incurred an astonishing $20,887 loss on each one.
