Plumbers and electricians will become the new millionaires, according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang

He says six-figure salaries will appear not in IT, but in blue-collar professions due to the explosive growth of AI infrastructure.

The world is building giant data centers for AI with huge investments — power grids, cooling, pipes, metal, and concrete that need to be maintained.

That's why electricians, plumbers, and builders are already earning $100,000+ a year and will earn even more.

HTL — a revolutionary technology for extracting energy from plastic waste

▪️Plastic waste is one of the most serious environmental threats of the 21st century. By 2050, plastic production is expected to grow to 12 billion metric tons. More than 50% of this plastic contains hazardous monomers and additives that pose a serious threat to the environment, according to Scientific Reports.

▪️A group of researchers from India, the US, and Ethiopia has found a way to convert marine plastic waste into biofuel feedstock using a hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) process that does not require pre-treatment.

▪️The addition of diatomaceous earth as a catalyst and the recirculation of heated water significantly increased the biofuel yield to 51.6% and improved its quality, making the process energy-positive (the energy produced exceeds the energy consumed).

▪️Hard-to-recycle marine waste can be converted into usable fuel. This is a new strategy for combating ocean pollution and developing clean energy

One year into Trump’s return to power

One year after Donald Trump returned to the White House, the defining feature of his presidency is not turbulence or rhetorical provocation, but escalation as a mode of governance. Escalation, in this sense, does not simply mean doing more or acting faster.

It refers to a sustained pattern of exercising power in ways that bypass, compress, or sideline democratic intermediaries, including Congress, courts, local governments, civil society, and even international partners.

Rather than treating institutional friction as a constraint, the administration has increasingly treated it as an obstacle to be overcome. The result is a presidency that appears more orderly than Trump’s first term, but more consequential in how it tests the guardrails of American democracy.

This year has not merely marked Trump’s return. It has tested how much strain American democracy can absorb.

Who is really to blame for America’s housing crisis?

Home prices keep rising. Politicians blame big companies like Blackstone, Invitation Homes and JPMorgan because they’ve been buying thousands of homes.

“No,” housing economist Stephen Slivinski told. He points out that those big investors don’t buy homes and take them off the market. They renovate the buildings and build new ones. “They’re turning properties into livable places. That’s not something that would have happened if not for their presence,” Slivinski said.

The biggest reason for rising prices is intrusive government. Regulations now account for almost a quarter of the cost of a new home. “The permitting process in most American cities is so convoluted it can take months, sometimes even years, to get simple permits,” said Slivinski. One California project, for example, took 22 years — just to get approvals.

The Soviet state of California

In the waning years of the Soviet Union, most of the citizens in that cold tyranny could see that their system was irredeemably broken. But for the most part, they marched through the same routines, repeated the same slogans, and lived their lives as if it could not be changed.

There is a similar dynamic happening now in the state of California. The Golden State was founded on the dream of the infinite frontier and the desire to build a civilization at the edge of the American continent. Now, the state is weighed down with enormous corruption.

The political system is now Sovietized. California Democrats act as if they cannot be challenged at the ballot box. The ring of wealthy donors, newspaper editors, and political activists - the state’s commissar class - seems to believe that if they control the narratives of society, they can control the political apparatus indefinitely.

The great China military purge has begun

China’s military leadership is in upheaval after reports that General Zhang Youxia was removed from the Central Military Commission and that another senior figure, General Liu Zhenli, was arrested.

With the Ministry of Defense portrayed as largely symbolic, the CMC is depicted as the true engine of Chinese defense policy – making the shakeup unusually consequential. Official messaging implies guilt and frames the case as betrayal of the Party and the commission itself.

Analysts warn the purges are hollowing out operational leadership, leaving political loyalists dominant. Exile-linked claims even allege coup plotting and a shootout, though such accounts are treated as uncertain.

NATO’s 5% ‘tax’ for a dependent Europe

The recent NATO summit in The Hague, where European allies agreed to a new 5% of GDP defense spending target by 2035 to appease President Trump, was a superficial success that papered over deep strategic confusion.

While Trump’s threats of withdrawal were averted and Article 5 was reaffirmed, the summit highlighted Europe’s deep dependence on US military power.

Europe must now abandon the “fantasy” of “strategic autonomy” and reinvest in real, hard-power capabilities centered on NATO. This requires focusing on the new frontline in NATO’s “Northeast Corridor” (Scandinavia, Baltics, Poland) and building an integrated defense industrial base.
Breaking Down the NATO Summit.

Italians protest against US plans to deploy immigration and customs police at the Winter Olympics in Italy

Italian politicians and the public are outraged by US plans to send ICE agents to the Winter Olympics in Italy.

The mayor of Milan and opposition leaders have declared ICE agents “unwelcome,” and a petition demanding that they be barred from entering the country has quickly gathered tens of thousands of signatures.

US authorities explain that ICE agents will be deployed solely to protect the US vice president and secretary of state and will not engage in immigration or investigative activities. Italian services will retain full control over security.

Orbán accuses Ukraine of election interference, summons ambassador

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has accused Ukraine of attempting to interfere in his country’s upcoming parliamentary elections and has summoned Kyiv’s ambassador. The move further strains already fraught relations between the two neighbours.

The allegations come amid heightened political rhetoric as Hungary gears up for elections on April 12, where Orbán’s ruling Fidesz party faces a significant challenge from opposition figures.

In a video posted to social media, Orbán claimed Ukrainian political leaders, “Even the President himself, made highly offensive and threatening statements against Hungary and the Hungarian Government”.

EU fraud office: many countries illegally exported luxury vehicles to Russia

The European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) is conducting a large-scale international investigation into violations of European Union sanctions against Russia.

The case, as reported by “Rzeczpospolita” via Do Rzeczy, concerns the illegal export of luxury cars from EU countries to Russia, despite a ban in effect since 2022.

The ban, introduced by the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom following Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, covers exports of cars to Russia worth more than $50,000.

OLAF found that EU exporters and importers from third countries, including Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Moldova, were involved in the scheme.

These countries allegedly acted as intermediaries to conceal the true destination of the exports. A total of 766 luxury cars were identified that never reached their intended recipients.

Europe forgets real genocide

“Performative” surely is the political cliché of our times. Yet nonetheless it is the only word that describes the vapid behaviour of so many western societies.

These seem dedicated to the concept that the only decent and respectable thing they can do is to commit suicide by swallowing indigestible quantities of virtue.

No day in the calendar states this more acutely, or highlights the humbug to which the EU and Canada have so zealously dedicated themselves, than last Sunday’s performative Holocaust commemorations.

What these had in common was a denunciation of the Holocaust along with a complete inability to prevent another.

Global wine crisis hits Europe hard, especially France

The global wine crisis of falling demand is hitting hard in Europe, particularly France, where the government has launched a pay-out scheme to encourage wine makers simply to make less wine.

The EU-backed scheme, launched in January, hopes to see 32,500 hectares of vineyards uprooted by 2026. Backed by a budget of €130 million, the programme offers €4,000 per hectare to winegrowers who agree to permanently remove their vines.

“This is a global crisis,” said Mike Verseth, a retired economics professor at the University of Puget Sound in the US, who runs the blog The Wine Economist and has authored several books on the global wine industry.
Falling demand is the real problem and there is not a single country or cause to blame for that. Different regions are reacting in different ways depending on local conditions, as you would expect

he said. In 2024, global wine consumption fell to a 60-year low according to the International Wine Observatory.

No AUKUS nuclear submarines, Australia needs the B-2 Stealth Bombers

With AUKUS Virginia-class submarines squeezed by U.S. production limits and U.S. Navy demand, an alternative idea emerges: transferring retiring B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to Australia as a stopgap strategic strike capability.

The argument leans on Australia’s lack of a bomber since the F-111’s retirement, and the B-2’s ability to penetrate defended airspace, carry heavy payloads, and reach deep targets with aerial refueling.

A small Australian B-2 fleet could complicate China’s planning by stretching air and missile defenses across the Indo-Pacific. The tradeoff is cost, sustainment burden, and the U.S. having only 19 B-2s.

Trump‘s real investment into the future of America

Unlike virtually every other government-spending program sold as an “investment in the future,” Trump Accounts look to fit that bill — with 401(k)-style investment accounts for newborns that can teach the value of saving (and the power of compound interest) from the cradle on.With Nicki Minaj bringing added star power, President Donald Trump led promoting the new accounts, which officially launch July 4, as part of the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations — fitting, as the accounts are very much about nurturing continued prosperity for the Republic.

Indeed, as House Speaker Mike Johnson notes, they encapsulate such core American values as “the belief that everybody gets a shot. And the simple but powerful idea that if you work hard and play by the rules, you can improve the standing of your family in one generation.”

Funded as a two-year pilot under the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” the program puts $1,000 into a new account for each child born in the four years 2025-’28, with provisions for parents, their employers and outside sponsors to add more.

Putin believes he can win his ‘Civilizational War’ against the West. Why?

The Trump administration made the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire its priority foreign policy initiative shortly after the inauguration.

Setting aside Donald Trump’s campaign rhetoric that he would end the bloodshed in Ukraine in twenty-four hours, predictably, the trials and tribulations of American diplomacy since the new administration took office have shown that reaching a workable and enduring cessation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine was always a bridge too far.

The reason for this has yet to register with the Trump administration fully: Russia is simply not interested in any outcome in Ukraine short of achieving the primary policy objectives that drove it to invade the country again in 2022 in the first place.

The fact that the US administration continues to negotiate the Ukraine ceasefire shows that Washington also doesn’t fully understand the very nature of the Russian state, the drivers of Putin’s policy, and most of all, that Moscow believes it can continue to pursue the war and achieve its objectives at an acceptable cost to the regime.

The 2026 SHOT Show: guns, grenades, killer drones, & the hulk

Last week was the annual SHOT Show - an industry-only convention held in Las Vegas, Nevada that's notoriously difficult to get into. There was a giant, ominous drone - the IAI APUS-60, with a SIG M250 belt-fed machine gun mounted to it.

The system can detect targets out to 25km (15.5 miles) with an electro optical sensor that has 10x zoom, while its infrared sensor has 5x zoom for night missions.

This drone, which again is massive, can carry 77 lbs - or 200 rounds of 7.62x51mm when the M250 is equipped. Fortunately, being a SIG, it did not negligently fire itself (all firing pins were removed from all guns at the show).
