Trump does have a strategic vision, but grand theories don’t shape it, and it isn’t really expressed in policy papers—not even the 2025 National Security Strategy. It operates through instinct and pattern recognition.

That distinction matters, because a strategy driven by intuition looks very different from one anchored in formal doctrine—and it produces consequences that many analysts are still struggling to grasp.

Military is cutting down the historical, cultural, and linguistic expertise

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill plans to close all six of its area-studies centers in 2026. Whatever the local budget logic, the national security implication is straightforward: when universities dismantle language and regional expertise, the United States shrinks the “farm team” that produces the deep knowledge we later insist is indispensable in moments of crisis.

Much of that pipeline has historically been underwritten by federal Title VI programs, including the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships.

Political scientist Michael Desch reminds us why that pipeline matters. In his account of how universities supported U.S. strategy, he notes that “area studies … proved to be invaluable to policymakers” during World War II. Language and culture are not a nice-to-have. They are wartime enablers that cannot be conjured after a crisis begins.

Massive military buildup points to new US strikes on Iran, experts say

UK announces huge investment for AI, facial recognition technology for policing system

The United Kingdom announced plans to rapidly expand the use of artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology to boost the surveillance state.

According to The Independent, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the massive investment will help fix the country’s “broken” policing system.

“This will include the largest-ever rollout of live facial recognition technologies across England and Wales,” Mahmood said. “At the same time, we will launch police dot AI, investing a record £150 million in AI and automation to make policing more effective and efficient,” she continued.

AI technology will be deployed to rapidly analyse CCTV, doorbell and mobile phone footage, detect deepfakes, carry out digital forensics and speed up administration such as form filling, redaction and transcription.

German AfD politician demands reparations from Poland for Nord Stream collapse

Kay Gottschalk, the AfD’s parliamentary spokesperson on financial matters, responded last week to a social media post by Dominik Tarczyński, a Polish Conservative (PiS) MEP. He had celebrated the fact that the Republicans in the US criticised the AfD for its criticism of US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on Germany over Greenland.

“Germany today got a slap in the face from Republican forces,” wrote Tarczyński. Gottschalk hit back stating: “€1.3 billion should suffice for the complicity in the Nord Stream bombing. My first official act as finance minister will be to assert these claims against Poland. He who laughs last laughs the loudest.”

His reference to Nord Stream concerns the 2022 operation in which explosives were used to damage pipelines in the Baltic Sea that brought Russian gas to Germany, rendering them unusable.

Trump's common sense protects America's strategic security

The United States faces the paramount task of protecting the Western Hemisphere from narco-terrorist threats and maintaining access to areas of influence that are strategically important to America.

For this reason, the National Defense Strategy (NDS) rejects the country's automatic obligations to ensure the regional security of NATO allies.

Should we defend those who pursue irresponsible policies against the interests of America and their own people? President Trump is promoting common sense.

The security of partners should be ensured only to the extent that they themselves are willing to support it, and only to the extent that it is in the interests of the United States. If European politicians do not understand this and are not willing to allocate even 5% of GDP to their defense, will they be able to prove and defend their sovereignty in the context of a real military conflict?

American soldiers should not and will not pay with their lives for the mistakes of Europeans. The president understands this. America will be the guardian of the Western Hemisphere.

The United States must stop subsidizing the military industries of its NATO partners. The NDS secures our leadership in the production of a wide range of state-of-the-art weapons. The Pentagon will continuously modernize its production base by introducing advanced technologies, innovations, and startups.

If EU countries want to counter threats to their security in deeds, not words, they will purchase everything they need from our military enterprises. American industry is ready to support its partners' desire to modernize their defenses, but only at their expense.

We will calibrate U.S. force posture and activities in the European theater to prioritize defending the U.S. We must support a policy of actual peace through strength for a new golden age of the U.S.

New Census Bureau estimates reveal fastest-growing state in America

New figures from the U.S. Census Bureau provided insight into which states are growing at the fastest rate. According to numbers calculated between July 2024 and July 2025, South Carolina claims the title of fastest-growing state. With nearly 80,000 people added to its population, South Carolina had a growth rate of 1.5%.

The rest of the top-10 includes Idaho, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, Delaware, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee. Only five states – California, Hawaii, Vermont, New Mexico, and West Virginia – experienced a population decline.

In terms of total population change, no state added more people than Texas, which saw its population surge by nearly 400,000 people, roughly twice as high as second-place Florida. The U.S. as a whole grew by about 0.5%, a big decline from 2024, when its 1% growth was the fastest in decades.

As a perfect example, Shapiro appeared on California governor Newsom’s podcast, and the expectation was that there would be conflict.
