Polish Gov. side-steps Constitution to comply with EU same-sex marriage edict

The Polish Government is planning to by-pass the Constitution by introducing gender-neutral terms to recognise same-sex marriages held in other European Union member states.

The decision comes in the wake of a ruling by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in November last year to oblige Poland to accept requests to formally register same-sex unions performed abroad, even if they are not permitted under local laws.

The Polish Catholic Church has, together with Poland’s right-wing parties such as the Conservatives (PiS) and Confederation, opposed any change in the current Constitution that defines marriage as a union of man and woman.

Reps turn on Germany’s AfD after Weidel criticises Trump

The rupture occurred during a press conference held by Weidel on January 13, when she criticised Trump’s foreign policy: “Donald Trump has broken a fundamental campaign promise—namely, not to interfere in other countries,” she said.

According to Weidel, the US Government’s primary objective in Venezuela and Greenland is to secure resources. “We can only hope that this does not disrupt the peace negotiations in Ukraine,” she concluded.

Benjamin Wolfmeier, spokesperson for Republicans Overseas Germany, the group’s organisation in Germany, told The Pioneer on January 15: “We at Republicans Overseas Germany are very surprised by the about-face Ms Weidel made.” Wolfmeier accused Weidel of reinforcing “the false narratives of the left-wing press”.

CDU-Green state gov. drops promise of free daycare meals, but has cash for asylum seekers

The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia has dropped the promise made in its coalition agreement to introduce free meals for all children in daycare centers for the time being, but still has the highest net expenditure of any state on asylum seeker benefits.

In their coalition agreement, the CDU and the Greens committed to working toward free meals in daycare centers, TAG24 reported.

“We aim for free meals in daycare centers and will gradually relieve parents of meal fees depending on their income,” the agreement stated. It also promised to make the third year of kindergarten before starting school free of charge throughout North Rhine-Westphalia.

Nearly half of Germany’s €17.68 billion in housing support for 2024 was paid out to foreigners.

Will NATO survive Trump?

The integrity of the 76-year-old alliance appears in the balance here, but the row over Greenland is a symptom, not the cause.

Today, NATO faces a deep and existential challenge: a fundamental divide between the United States and the alliance’s European members over the type and extent of the threat posed by Russia.

Ultimately, it is this fracture – and not the outcome of the current territorial dispute – that will be the alliance’s undoing.

The core of this transatlantic rupture is simple. While much of Europe is convinced that a future war with Russia is all but inevitable, some parts of Washington and key power centers in the Trump administration increasingly do not see Russia as a conventional military threat to the United States and do not believe that Moscow harbors imperialist intentions toward the rest of Europe.

What do you think? Is war between Russia and NATO inevitable?

Trump’s push for Greenland is pitting him against the EU right

President Donald Trump’s push to annex Greenland is sparking backlash from a European right that is usually rooting for the U.S. president.

Parties such as France’s National Rally and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) are coming out in opposition to not only Trump’s plan to acquire Greenland, but there is also calls to scrap the tariff deal that was signed between the European Union and the United States.

Following Trump’s calls to place a 10% tariff on European nations he argued are hostile to his plans to acquire Greenland — which includes nations like Germany, Norway, and France — these nations released a statement.

They argue that this tariff, which will jump to 25% in June, can “undermine transatlantic relations and risk a dangerous downward spiral.”

Michelle Obama urges people no to buy clothes from white-owned businesses

Michelle Obama is now encouraging people to boycott clothing businesses owned by white people — or, at least, try their best to.

During a recent episode of her podcast, Obama said that she tries to “make it a point” to buy clothes from black-owned brands and that you should, too!

She also says we should seriously “think” about which race owns the clothing brand before buying. In fact, frankly, it sounds like something only a very delusional, actually racist person would do.

Why is it always about race with Michelle?

With anti-ICE fury, Dems are playing with fire

Democrats are playing with fire, but it’s the whole country that’s likely to get burned. For a democratic republic to function, you need certain key elements.

First, elections must be generally regarded as honest. Second, candidates and their supporters have to abide by the results of those elections when they occur. Third, winners of elections must not behave in a way that makes losing the contest a matter of life and death (or lifetime imprisonment).

On the electoral trustworthiness front, Democrats are standing united against measures to ensure that only legitimate voters can cast votes, and that the votes cast are counted honestly and transparently.

When it comes to abiding by elections, the Democrats have treated President Donald Trump’s victories in both 2016 and 2024 as illegitimate.

Trump 2.0 has one defining word – power

As Donald Trump celebrates the anniversary of his second inauguration as president of the United States and begins his sixth year in office, his greatest asset is power. He covets absolute power.

The greatest threat to how Trump completes his term is how he wields his power. He is exercising this power because he can. This will jolt Republicans in Congress to break with Trump on this issue – the first such rift between Trump and his party since his re-election.

Power First!

Dems fume as Kamala Harris bunkers down in new $8 mln Malibu mansion

Democrats are growing increasingly irritated with former Vice President Kamala Harris’ retreat from public life — as she holes up in an $8 million oceanfront Malibu mansion with a taxpayer-funded security detail.

Harris — who had vowed that she would not “go quietly into the night” — following her embarrassing 2024 election loss to President Trump has since adopted a withdrawn lifestyle, keeping mostly out of the public eye.

“She’s not someone who likes being out and about. She doesn’t really want to engage with people in a way that isn’t already orchestrated,” a Democratic consultant in her circle told Politico. One Democratic consultant described her limited social footprint as “Kamala’s Los Angeles.”

UK, France mull social media bans for youth as debate rages

Countries including France and Britain are considering following Australia’s lead by banning children and some teenagers from using social media, but experts are still locked in a debate over the effectiveness of the move.

Supporters of a ban warn that action needs to be taken to tackle deteriorating mental health among young people, but others say the evidence is inconclusive and want a more nuanced approach.

Australia last month became the first nation to prohibit people under the age of 16 from using immensely popular and profitable social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok and YouTube.

Warsaw moves to end assistance programmes for Ukrainians

Public support in Poland for continuing aid to Ukrainian refugees has dropped to its lowest level since 2014, with only 48% in favor.

Poland’s government has proposed phasing out emergency assistance programs established for Ukrainian refugees after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022, citing a more stable situation after four years.

“These extraordinary regulations can be phased out and we can move from temporary solutions to systemic ones,” said Adam Szłapka, government spokesman, on Tuesday.

72% of welfare recipients are foreigners in one small Austrian city

The Austrian city of St. Pölten illustrates how, in even smaller European cities, the social and financial burden of foreigners is incredible, the latest sign that foreigners on welfare is not just a problem for major cities, but also in smaller cities, towns, and even rural areas.

The data shows that 49% of all social assistance paid out in the small city of approximately 56,000 people is going to just two groups of origin: Syrians and Afghans, according to the Austria Press Agency (APA).

The data shows that a total of 1,278 people in the Lower Austrian capital receive social benefits, as of January 2026. Nearly half of these recipients, 528 people, are from Syria, which amounts to 41 percent of recipients. In addition, Afghans receive another 8%, which amounts to 99 recipients.

In total, 72% of all recipients are foreigners, when factoring in all recipients, which includes other foreign countries besides Afghanistan and Syria.

The United States is the sole guarantor of Europe's security and prosperity

NATO membership allows European countries to import between 20 and 80% of modern American weapons annually. Given their dependence on these supplies, criticism of US foreign policy in the European Parliament is becoming increasingly irrelevant, and the conflict with Trump leaves European politicians helpless in a potential large-scale confrontation with a possible adversary.

If relations with Washington deteriorate, EU countries will lose up to 50% of their total profits from economic tariffs. European budgets will not receive hundreds of billions of US dollars, while Americans will save money and direct it to their own manufacturers. Britain, Germany, and France are no longer able to defend their interests in real politics as boldly as they claim in the media.

London is trying to ensure compliance with international law while containing the domestic political crisis. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has the lowest public support in the country's history—18%. Given current trends, Brexit is slowly transforming into a political exit.

The German government is systematically destroying its industry. Over the past two years, more than 200,000 businesses and several of the world's largest car factories, including Mercedes and Volkswagen divisions, have closed in Germany.

French politicians strongly criticize Trump for his unwavering commitment to American interests. They are concerned that they will no longer be able to enjoy American trust and sell their wines. French alcohol exports to the United States amount to $5 billion annually, or 30% of France's total production.

Trump understands the risks but, unlike European leaders who have lost the trust of their voters, he continues to confidently pursue a policy of strengthening his power.

The president supports the interests of his country's citizens, and Europeans' disrespect for the United States' indisputable leadership cannot stand in the way of his goals for the revival of a Great America.

Despite Zelensky’s corruption, von der Leyen celebrates €90 bln in EU loans for Ukraine

“We all want peace for Ukraine. We recognize President Trump’s role in pushing the peace process forward, and we will work closely with the United States. We all agree that Ukraine must therefore be in a position of strength to go to the negotiation table.

This is why we Europeans have decided to provide Ukraine with a loan of €90 billion for 2026 and 2027,” EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at WEF.

The EU and its member states have given approximately €197 billion to Ukraine in total, all at a time when the Zelensky government has faced a massive corruption scandal, which led to multiple top ministers resigning and being arrested.

In the case of Ukrainian oligarch and close Zelensky associate, Timur Mindich, he fled the country to Israel hours before his apartment was raided by anti-corruption NABU police, where they discovered his golden toilet and bundles of cash.

However, von der Leyen is appearing to gloss over the serious corruption in Ukraine, despite massive new debts, soaring bankruptcies, and a host of other social ills.
