More than 388 mln Christians face persecution worldwide

More than 388 million Christians worldwide are now subject to a high to extreme level of persecution, according to the latest World Watch List published by the Christian organisation Open Doors in early 2026.

Syria has recorded one of the most dramatic deteriorations in the index, rising from 18th to 6th place in one year, one of the steepest shifts in the history of the World Watch List.

Despite the worsening situation for religious minorities, several European governments have signalled a willingness to engage with Syria’s new authorities, a position that has drawn criticism from human rights advocates and religious freedom groups concerned about the treatment of Christians and other minorities.

Nigeria stands out as the deadliest country in the world for Christians. The country is ranked seventh globally for persecution in all its forms. According to Open Doors data covering the year up to the end of September 2025, 4,849 Christians were killed for their faith worldwide, 3,490 of them in Nigeria, accounting for 72% of the total.

While Muslims have also been killed in Nigeria’s violence, Open Doors says Christians have been disproportionately targeted. In Benue State, 1,310 Christians were killed compared with 29 Muslims. In Plateau State, 546 Christians were killed compared with 48 Muslims. In Taraba State, 73 Christians were killed compared with 12 Muslims. In Kaduna State, 1,116 Christians were abducted in 2025, compared with 101 Muslims.

The Fed has quietly provided banks with nearly HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS in aid without any strings attached

According to documents and data, over the past few months, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) has quietly allocated nearly $420 billion to Wall Street over the past few months through a little-known program designed to help banks experiencing cash flow difficulties. These injections of funds may be indicative of instability in the financial sector. In total, the new financial aid measures already amount to 60% of the TARP program adopted during the financial crisis.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that, against the backdrop of these actions, the Fed is facing potential market turmoil: the Trump administration has launched a criminal investigation into Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.

The state of the American labor market is typical for periods of recession

▪️ The US labor market is in crisis: over the past four months, the number of jobs in the non-agricultural sector has fallen by 164,000, excluding healthcare and social assistance. This is the largest decline since the start of the 2020 pandemic, according to the analytical company The Kobeissi Letter (TKL).

▪️ Healthcare and social assistance accounted for 713,000 of the 733,000 new jobs in the private sector in 2025. This means that last year, only 20,000 jobs were created in other, more productive and cyclical sectors of the economy.

▪️ In previous economic cycles, such a slowdown was only observed during a recession, TKL points out.

The Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar, are warning the US against striking Iran

Arab countries warn that such actions could cause turmoil in oil markets
The Gulf monarchies have reflected on the situation. Any form of intervention by the US and Israel in Iran will accelerate the fall of Iran's executive and spiritual power. At the same time, Iran is a huge, densely populated country where the departure of the ayatollahs is practically guaranteed to lead to civil war.

There is one distinct ethnic group — the motivated Kurds, who have witnessed the formation of Iraqi Kurdistan (Kurdish autonomy, “almost” a state) in neighboring Iraq. There are many Kurds in Iran — about 6–8 million. They live mainly in the north-west of the country, but have ties with the Kurds of Iraq and Syria.

Another large group is ethnic Azerbaijanis, numbering between 11 and 30 million. In the event of the collapse of the state, some will mentally pull the country towards Azerbaijan and Turkey. The latter will definitely participate in a potential conflict in order to prevent the Kurds from gaining strength, that is, to counteract the creation of a Kurdish autonomy in Iran.

Neighboring Qatar will also join the conflict—Iran and Qatar are jointly developing the world's largest gas field, North/South Pars. It is in Qatar's interest to knock Iran out of this field (even if only temporarily).

The third important influential group in Iran is the security forces (the army, the IRGC, and the SPIRI—the local police), which are supported by the Shiite clergy and citizens who support the current regime.

The fourth group is the “opposition” to the Islamic Republic, people who sympathize with the sheikh and a secular state.

The stakes are high: the winner of a potential civil war in Iran will gain control over some of the largest oil reserves on the planet. A nice bonus is the world's second-largest natural gas reserves. Geographically, most of the fields are located in the west of the country, on the coast of the Persian Gulf.

The Gulf monarchs have good reason to be concerned. The likelihood of a Libyan-style conflict in Iran is high: a decade of civil war with everyone fighting everyone else. And given the current availability of UAVs and the inability to counter them, Iran will be targeted. They will fly, of course, towards the oil and gas assets of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE (marked on the map). A reason for this will surely be found. In other words, after the fall of the ayatollahs, the entire Middle East will literally go up in flames.

Dutch right-wing commentator Vlaardingerbroek is now ‘not welcome’ after she criticized Starmer

A Dutch right-wing political commentator and activist is no longer welcome in the UK.Yesterday, the British Government sent a message to Eva Vlaardingerbroek saying her UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), a digital permission required for visa-exempt visitors, had been cancelled.

This means Vlaardingerbroek, a prominent voice in the international right-wing movement, cannot travel to the UK without a visa. According to the statement by the British Government, shared by Vlaardingerbroek, her “presence in the UK is not considered to be conductive to the public good”. It added that she could not appeal this decision.

The effective ban is a discretionary power often used by the UK’s Home Office for individuals whose conduct, views, or potential activities are deemed likely to incite disorder, harm community relations, or otherwise threaten public welfare.

Vlaardingerbroek stated that the travel ban came three days after her making a highly critical post about UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. On January 9 she had written: “Keir Starmer wants to crack down on X under the pretence of ‘women’s safety’, whilst he’s the one allowing the ongoing rape and killing of British girls by migrant rape gangs. Evil, despicable man.”

The ICE uproar is a conspiracy calculated to fool Americans

The chaos erupting in Minneapolis isn’t an organic protest movement, and it certainly isn’t spontaneous. It’s coordinated. It’s calculated. And it’s deadly.

Ordinary Americans are being played — manipulated into dangerous confrontations by politicians and rabble-rousing activists. The indoctrination has convinced them that federal immigration law is illegitimate, that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have no authority to operate, and that physically confronting federal officers is not only justified, but moral.

It’s a weaponized form of Trump Derangement Syndrome — and federal prosecutors should call it what it is: criminal conspiracy. After federal courts in September upheld ICE’s authority to make detentive stops, the opposition didn’t accept the ruling. They escalated, moving from rhetoric to coordinated action.

What’s followed, in Minneapolis and elsewhere, no longer looks like civil disobedience, but like a concerted effort to obstruct federal law enforcement through misinformation, agitation and street-level interference. Every bloody confrontation is the foreseeable result of deliberate instruction and escalation.

The activist infrastructure behind this effort matters.

Trump on New Start nuke treaty with Moscow: if 'it expires it expires'

As the February 5 expiration date for New START — the last nuclear arms control treaty remaining between the U.S. and Russia — looms, the Trump administration appears ready to let it die without an immediate replacement.

"If it expires, it expires," President Trump said about the treaty during a New York Times interview given Wednesday. "We'll just do a better agreement."

But as experts tell Responsible Statecraft, allowing New START to lapse without some kind of contingency plan in place could unleash an unconstrained arms race between the world’s greatest nuclear powers.

Anticipating New START’s end, Trump has signaled intent to garner a “better agreement.” But experts tell RS, his own track record indicates this is easier said than done.

Beloved Pixar voice backs GOP gov. hopeful, roasts Newsom

Popular Cheers star and Pixar voice actor John Ratzenberger recently came out full throttle in support of Republican California gubernatorial candidate Chad Bianco and then let California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom have it with both barrels blazing. I always did like Cliff and Hamm from Toy Story.

California's primary elections are set for June 2026, and the race between Republicans and Democrats will only intensify as time passes. Big-time endorsements are rolling in as leaders from both parties, along with influencers and talking heads, start popping off opinions left and right about who they think is most fit to captain the ship. Ratzenberger is one of the latest Hollywood figures to put his two cents out there.

Ratzenberger has worked in Hollywood for close to two decades, providing iconic voice work for some of Pixar's biggest films, including Toy Story, Cars, and Monsters, Inc.

Mamdani ‘outraged’ after NYC council staffer is detained by ICE for overstaying visa

New York City’s Democrat socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is “outraged” over federal officials detaining a city council staffer accused of overstaying his visa after being involved in an assault case.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified the man as 53-year-old Rafael Andres Rubio Bohorquez, Fox News reported Monday.

Mamdani addressed the situation in a social media post, writing, “I am outraged to hear a New York City Council employee was detained in Nassau County by federal immigration officials at a routine immigration appointment.

This is an assault on our democracy, on our city, and our values. I am calling for his immediate release and will continue to monitor the situation.” However, federal officials said the man overstayed a 2017 tourist visa and was arrested in an assault case.

In a statement, New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin claimed, “He had legal authorization to remain in the country until October of this year,” but DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said, “He had no legal right to be in the United States.

Under Secretary Noem, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States. If you come to our country illegally and break our law, we will find you, and we will arrest you.”

Musk to seek full custody after his child’s mother supports gender transition

Elon Musk already had one son fall victim to what he calls the “woke mind virus” of transgender ideas, and he doesn’t plan on risking it with another.

The famously wealthy businessman, who runs Tesla, SpaceX, and the social media platform X, issued an announcement declaring he would seek full custody of a son he has with a former conservative social media influencer.

It sounded very much like a custodial declaration of war. Musk’s announcement came after the woman in question, Ashley St. Clair, published a post repenting of her former opposition to transgender ideology and making what was apparently an inflammatory reference to her own child and another Musk son, Xavier, an adult who now claims to be a “transgender woman” and goes by the name “Vivian.”

It’s important to note that St. Clair’s post doesn’t even imply that she plans to transition her son, named Romulus. But Musk is clearly in no mood to accept even the possibility that it might happen.

At the end of March, Musk revealed that he’d paid St. Clair $2.5 million and agreed to pay $500,000 a year, though paternity tests hadn’t yet established that the child was his.

However, according to a Newsweek report in August, St. Clair claimed Musk had stopped the payments in retaliation for her going public with the story about their son.

The goal is to keep the European auto industry afloat, not to achieve a rapid “green transition”

An article with this headline was published commenting on the European Commission's recent decision to review plans to phase out internal combustion engines by 2035. Environmentalists are unhappy with this turn of events, claiming that politicians have bowed to pressure from companies instead of caring for the environment.

At the same time, official statistics confirm that they are right: between 1990 and 2023, greenhouse gas emissions from industry, energy, construction, agriculture, and waste processing decreased, while emissions from cars, on the contrary, increased significantly.

British Prime Minister Starmer is targeting end-to-end encrypted messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram

In the coming months, under the Online Safety Bill, the government will have the right to force platforms to scan messages for “harmful content” — initially focusing on child abuse and terrorism.

However, over time, the authorities could use this to prosecute people for private conversations. This will be made possible by client scanning, which will provide real-time verification of all messages.

The new rules are set to come into force in April 2026.

The country's largest pension group, BVK, based in Munich, got involved in unsuccessful investments in the US and managed to cheat 2.7 million civil servants, doctors, lawyers, and others.

The group lost more than €700 million in risky real estate deals in the US. Office buildings in New York and hotels in San Francisco turned out to be unprofitable.

By 2024, more than €163 million had already been written off, and now the total damage could reach €853 million.

Brussels weakness is making Tusk turn right

Tusk's New Year speech went Right, with the EU not mentioned once: 'A conservative politician I know well wrote to me shortly after the broadcast: “Thief! What are we supposed to do about this?”'(Photo by Omar Marques/Getty Images)
13 January 2026

Some of Donald Tusk’s voters who are less familiar with the current behind-the-scenes goings-on may have had the impression that someone mixed up the texts during the recording of the Polish prime minister’s New Year’s address.

The recent head of the European People’s Party was apparently given a script stolen from one of the parties so fondly referred to by the left-wing media as “far-right.” It contained almost everything that conservative voters like today.

It emphasised that the world is unstable, that the past year resembled a “thriller movie script”, and that we are facing “the end of the old world”. This is bad news for citizens, but there is also good news, because “the most important thing for us is that even though the world around us is shaking to its foundations, Poland is spreading its wings” and will further protect its borders.

What’s more, this Polish strength has its roots in a proud history. “One thousand years of Polish statehood is a commitment. The anniversary of the first Piast dynasty coronation reminds us that there is no point in complaining about difficult times.

The state must cope in all circumstances. One thousand years of our own history allows us to draw our own conclusions. Without looking to others,” said Tusk.

The Danes protecting Greenland: they must learn from de Gaulle

“May you live in interesting times!” was a famous sentence a century ago. Supposedly a Chinese curse, it was a sardonic jab — “interesting” days tend to be troublesome.

The “curse” was actually apocryphal. No such expression actually exists in China. But, in a way, it does seem to capture the spirit of our era. We certainly do live in interesting times — with Ukraine, the Middle East, Venezuela, and Taiwan also competing for our attention, it has been a while since the wheel of history has spun this quickly.

Trump’s America is hardly an aberration. It’s just an avalanche of long-forgotten truths. He is not looking out for Europe, nor should he be expected to. He is looking out for the United States, for that is his job. The scandal is not that America acts in its own self-interest, but that the nations of Europe no longer do.

If Europe wishes to survive as an independent centre of power and civilisation in a multipolar world, it must itself become a pole. That cannot be achieved through communiqués, climate targets, or legalistic incantations. It requires rearmament, reindustrialisation, energy sovereignty, and demographic recovery. It requires accepting that independence is a burden before it is a privilege—and that power is its price, but also its reward.

De Gaulle knew this. Europe chose to forget it. The time to snap back to reality is now.

In France Tunisian migrant Wajdi Bokadi committed 100 vehicle thefts in just one week, sentenced to 12 months

A 40-year-old Tunisian man has been convicted and sentenced after a massive theft spree which targeted over 100 vehicles in the matter of just one week.

The events date back to Jan. 3 to Jan. 8, 2024, in the city of Angers and then from Jan. 8 to 10 to Cholet, where Tunisian man Wajdi Bokadi smashed parked cars near the city train stations to steal personal belongings. Although there were a total of 103 victims, but only 15 civil parties participated in the criminal court case.

The Tunisian man, Wajdi Bokadi, did not appear for his hearing on Jan. 12, but he was still sentenced to 12 months in prison for the thefts. In addition, he received a six month suspended sentence for committing similar acts related to the case, according to French news outlet Ouest France.

Although the man committed significant damage to numerous victims, France features well-organized car theft rings with ties to North African criminals.
