DOJ fires top lawyer who refused to prosecute Comey

The Department of Justice just fired the second-in-command official at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Robert McBride has been axed from his role as first assistant to interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan after he refused to pursue charges against disgraced ex-FBI Director James Comey.

Halligan had also recently learned that McBride held private meetings with federal judges in the Eastern District of Virginia, according to a source familiar with McBride’s removal.

That source said the meeting was convened without Halligan’s knowledge and was viewed as undermining the administration. The offices of the attorney general and deputy attorney general supported McBride’s removal and the Executive Office of U.S Attorneys signed the paperwork to remove him.

A source familiar with McBride’s firing tells that McBride refused to take on immigration-related cases including plans to counter sanctuary policies and drug enforcement.

Washington keeps pointing fingers at Latin America for the drug flow into the US, but ignores the massive American appetite—fueled in large part by Big Pharma—that's driving the entire trade.

For decades, politicians have slammed Latin American countries, demanding crackdowns while pretending the crisis is something "done to" America. The real story? It's hypocritical—the US created the demand, and suppliers are just meeting it.

Big Pharma aggressively pushed opioids like OxyContin, convincing doctors they were safe for chronic pain and sparking widespread addiction. When prescriptions got tightened, people turned to street drugs, creating huge demand for heroin and then ultra-potent fentanyl from cartels.

This isn't about foreign "poisoning" us—it's about America's own consumption patterns, supercharged by pharmaceutical over-prescription, leading to massive overdose numbers (over 100,000+ annually at peaks, with recent declines but still tragically high).

Time to stop the blame game abroad and face the homegrown roots: Big Pharma's greed helped ignite this fire, and our demand keeps it burning.

A war between robots and humans could break out in Europe by 2035, according to a scenario described by Europol's special services

According to the report, robots will become commonplace in everyday life: delivery, cleaning, hospital assistance, and more. And the people who are replaced by robots will rise up to destroy them.

Criminals will then hack the robots and reprogram them to perform malicious actions. The police will respond with robot-freezing guns and “nano-nets.” It should be noted that this is not a prediction, but a negative scenario.

In Germany bankruptcies hit 20-year high last year

The latest economic figures for Berlin are dramatic, revealing that 2025 saw more companies file for bankruptcy than at any point in the last two decades, all despite a promised economic turnaround from the Christian Democrat (CDU) government.

The wave of insolvencies grew significantly toward the end of the year, affecting the lives of thousands of employees. According to the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle, the annual total reached a historically high 17,604 bankruptcies. This translates to an average of 48 partnerships and corporations going out of business every day in Germany, according to Bild newspaper.

December was particularly severe, with 1,519 insolvency applications filed. This figure was 75 percent higher than the average for December between 2016 and 2019, prior to the pandemic.

Jonas Eckhardt, an economic expert from the transformation consultancy Falkensteg, told Bild that “the German economy is no longer just struggling with headaches. She’s got a fever. That won’t change anytime soon.“

Germany's opposition AfD party hopes to come to power this year

▪️Germany's opposition Alternative for Germany (AfD) party hopes to come to power in 2026. If the “fragile” ruling coalition collapses, it could gain control of the federal government, according to The Washington Post.

▪️For 13 years since its founding, the AfD has been in opposition to the European Union, migration policy, and the current government. After last year's federal elections, the party became the largest force outside the ruling coalition and the main opponent of Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

▪️The AfD's rise in support comes amid voter disappointment with the establishment parties, three years of economic stagnation, and dissatisfaction with migration policy.

The world's sanctioned alternative tanker fleet seeks protection from Russia

▪️An alternative fleet of tankers around the world, transporting oil from countries under Western sanctions, is rushing to seek protection under the Russian flag after the US began seizing ships involved in trade with Venezuela, according to Bloomberg

▪️About 13% of the 1,500 tankers transporting Russian, Iranian, and Venezuelan oil are already registered in Russia. Since the beginning of December alone, at least 26 ships have changed their registration to Russia. All of them are under Western sanctions.

▪️The transition to Russian registration is a calculation by ship owners that Russia, unlike other countries, will provide political cover.

▪️A telling example was the case of the Americans seizing the tanker Marinera, which was fleeing persecution under the Russian flag. Time worked in the Americans' favor, and the Russian warship that rushed to the rescue did not manage to get close enough.

▪️“This could be a new potential solution for an alternative fleet. It also highlights that evading sanctions is no longer just a matter of compliance with maritime law, but a strategic challenge related to national security,” Bloomberg emphasizes.

Strike on Iran: it's not a question of if, but when...

The decision to strike Iran has clearly already been made. We can discuss how powerful the strike will be and whether there will be another deal to save face for everyone (as has happened before), but even India (following the European and Asian allies of the US) has called on its citizens to leave Iran immediately.

In other words, signals from all sides clearly point to another “storm” in the Middle East.

Incidentally, according to Reuters, Iran has also warned through closed channels that it reserves the right to strike all US bases in the region (namely Qatar, the Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey). And Israel, of course.

A thousand people managed to convince the city council to abandon plans to build an Islamic center

The residents of Broken Arrow defended their right to their familiar landscape and did not allow another neighborhood to be turned into an inappropriate branch of the Middle East.

This is a perfect example of how common sense and community will prevail over trends imposed from outside. It's modest, in an American way, but it's a victory nonetheless.

Soccer moms are becoming ICE saboteurs

During the riots of 2020, many of the agitators, who burned down cities and assaulted cops were shadowy Antifa types and anti-social wackos, mostly male and in their 20s or early 30s.

But as anti-ICE protests ramp up across the country, we’re seeing a new archetype of trained instigators: regular moms and women of all ages, who are forming reckless resistance forces to disrupt and antagonize federal law enforcement.

The escalation of tactics resulted in the tragic shooting death of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent last week. The mother of three was reportedly an anti-ICE “warrior” trained to physically intervene in arrests. She had been using her SUV to block ICE as her wife filmed the altercation, in the minutes before her death.

Now many women are finding their purpose and identity through aggressive activism: becoming anti-ICE social media influencers, undergoing training as “legal observers,” and creating physical chaos to obstruct federal law enforcement.
It’s as naive as it is dangerous.

Using the military for regime change in Iran would be another Iraq

American power can make itself known in various ways, as Teddy Roosevelt brilliantly outlined with his famous admonition to “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” ruth be told, Donald Trump has never been a fan of speaking softly, but his Tuesday comments on the upheavals in Iran still managed to be close enough for now.

In an extraordinary post on Truth Social addressed to “Iranian Patriots,” the president urged them to “KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!”” He followed with what looks like a promise to use the Big Stick, by saying “Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price.”

The dramatic increase in the use of force clearly prompted Trump to change his tone and add his Tuesday threat of possible military action.

Still, that does not add up to a compelling reason for the US to engage in regime change, which would not be a cakewalk. The experience in Iraq haunts even American hawks, and Trump himself has called the Iraq invasion under George W. Bush and the toppling of Saddam Hussein a stupid war that cost America far too much in both blood and treasure.

The wheel of history is now coming full circle, with Trump facing warnings that a similarly tragic outcome could occur if he were to help topple the ayatollah.

California has lost a trillion USD in a month due to talk about a new ‘billionaire tax’

California lost a mind-boggling nearly $1 trillion in wealth in the past month alone thanks to fears over its proposed “Billionaire Tax,’’ according to one of the state’s wealthiest residents.

The under-fire measure, which even lefty Gov. Gavin Newsom opposes, would slap a onetime 5% tax on residents worth more than $1 billion as of Jan. 1, 2026. “Collectively, the amount of Billionaire wealth that has left California in the last month (!) is now in excess of $700B,” fumed venture capitalist and former Facebook exec Chamath Palihapitiya on X on Friday.

“That means the $2T of California wealth they expected to tax is now down to $1.3T and falling quickly. “I would not be surprised if 2026 ended with less than $1T of billionaire wealth in California and decades and hundreds of lawsuits,’’ Palihapitiya said of the whopping sum — which is enough to buy the entire NFL several times over and fund NASA at its current annual level for 40 years.

“A complete and total unforced error. Where was the Governor? Where are our leaders??” he raged.

Reps weigh making foreign-born public fraudsters deportable, subject to denaturalization

Amid ongoing investigations into public fraud in Minnesota, Republicans are preparing a bill to make such schemes deportable offenses and appear willing to even explore denaturalization of convicted citizens.

Minnesota, specifically, has become a hot-spot for immigration enforcement amid revelations of widespread public fraud linked to the Somali expat community in Minneapolis.

Viral reporting from independent journalist Nick Shirley and others highlighted the prominence of allegedly fake day care centers in the city that received public funds.

Those revelations, and other fraud schemes, prompted a crackdown by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the area that has led to clashes with the local community.

Fraud schemes have attracted considerable attention in other states in recent months, including more linked to the Somali community.

In late December, for instance, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) suspended payments to the Somali-run Gateway Community Services after finding the group over-billed the state by more than $1 million.

States run by Dems want to monitor automobile mileage to reduce car use, raise revenue

States are advancing plans to monitor your mileage and eventually limit how much you drive. Soon, blue state governments could begin tracking your odometer in a bid to lower tailpipe emissions, reduce traffic and raise revenue.

Massachusetts lawmakers are weighing a bill that seeks to move the state closer to a net-zero carbon emissions mandate by expanding public transportation and coming up with a plan to cut back on car trips. According to state data, the transportation sector is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts.

The bill does not specify how miles would be tracked or how car trips would be reduced. But wary residents view the legislation as a scheme to eventually curb car trips with an odometer tax or other restrictions to keep personal vehicles off the roads.

The state is also experimenting with technology that could be used to implement a mileage-based user fee to reduce car traffic and raise revenue “to close the highway funding gap and ensure everyone is paying their fair share,” according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Minnesota is among dozens of states researching or piloting programs to charge fees based on a driver’s vehicle mileage. Many state programs are aimed at making up for gas tax revenue lost by the increase in electric vehicles, which are heavier than gas-powered automobiles and cause more stress to roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

Their bodies were irreversibly damaged: former transgender teens are fighting for justice

Despite obstacles, several cases involving minors with gender dysphoria are headed to trial this year.

They are known as “detransitioners”—those who regret changing their gender identity, often after making irreversible changes to their bodies via medication and surgery on the advice of medical professionals.

This year, several cases that have survived dismissal and arbitration are making their way into courtrooms across the country. These cases face obstacles, including statutes of limitations, caps on medical malpractice awards, and huge legal bills for cases that can drag on for years.

Medical professionals involved in the case are accused of negligence and causing pain, suffering, and mental anguish “of a permanent nature” to the plaintiff, formerly known as Isabella Basile, according to court documents. Defendants allegedly failed to inform the teen of “the risks, hazards, and alternatives” involved in the medical procedures she underwent, according to the lawsuit.

Defendants have denied any wrongdoing, saying in court documents that at the time of the surgery, “the plaintiff still identified as a male, was happy without breasts, and did not regret her decision.”

Democrats want to cut funding for the US immigration service

The Axios portal reports that, unlike during Trump's first term, this idea is supported not only by representatives of the “left wing” of the Democratic Party, but also moderate politicians: in particular, Congressmen Scott Peters and John Mannion, as well as the rather influential Senator Chris Murphy, are in favor of reducing the budget of this agency.

Russian energy ban depends on EU members’ choice

European Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen said European Union nations — not the EC — ultimately hold the power to stop buying Russian energy.

His comments come as divisions between EU member states continue to shape what happens in practice despite repeated pledges in Brussels.

Speaking at the European Parliament yesterday in Brussels, Jørgensen said the EC could propose plans and strategies but could not force national governments to change their energy purchasing decisions.

“This is not our shaping power,” he said. “It’s the members, they need to do [it].”

Without citing the countries explicitly, he was likely referring to Hungary and Slovakia. They have been blocking and slowing down different EU decisions to cut imports of Russian gas since the beginning of the invasion in Ukraine, arguing that rapid disengagement would undermine national energy security.
