Boyle’s warning was not merely an artifact of a bygone intervention, but a caution against imperial hubris — one newly relevant in the wake of “Operation Absolute Resolve" in Venezuela.

The Trump administration has amplified the afterglow of its tactical success with renewed assertions of hemispheric hegemony through a nostalgic and often ahistorical reading of the Monroe Doctrine. Despite the administration’s enthusiasm for old-fashioned hemispheric imperialism, the historical record ought to caution for restraint, not revisionism.

When modern American officials invoke the Monroe Doctrine, they often do so with a confidence that suggests its meaning is settled and its record vindicated. Historically, the doctrine — both in meaning and in application — was far more contested than modern enthusiasts let on. Indeed, the high-water mark of American imperialism in the Caribbean exposed the high costs and meager returns of micromanaging neighboring states.

Airline terminated its contract for ICE deportation flights

Some rather dramatic news emerged earlier this January that an airline that has been working with the government to conduct deportation flights out of the country has suspended its agreement with the agency.

Avelo Airlines has announced it will no longer be conducting the travel arrangements it had been performing out of Arizona’s Mesa Gateway Airport for the Immigration and Customs Service.

Upon hearing this announcement, the press has been rather giddy in detailing the cessation of this partnership. Since publicizing its new business arrangement in April, the low-fare carrier faced protests, boycotts, and backlash from travelers, flight attendant unions, local politicians and immigration activists. Adding to the excitement was CBS News, which tried to suggest that this move had been made in light of that opposition.

This appears to be more of a case of puffery from this protest group. Avelo is a small carrier operating out of Houston that mostly services smaller connections with cities not normally serviced by the larger airlines. Rather than being a prominent partner with ICE, it was, in truth, being subcontracted to perform this service.

The Department of Homeland Security has an arrangement with another entity, CSI Aviation, which orchestrated the flight agreements with a number of carriers, Avelo being but one of those companies.

Bessent reveals stunning amount of fraud in US budget, puts Walz on notice

In an interview with journalist Christopher Rufo, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed something that should shock and concern everyone - that hundreds of billions in the U.S. budget are being thrown down the sewer on waste, fraud, and abuse each year.

It's "about 10 percent of the federal budget," Bessent explained. "One to two percent of the GDP."

That's an incredible amount of the budget. Bessent said he would love the embattled governor to come to the Treasury building for questions, and he would guarantee his safety there.

We already know that Walz quit his reelection effort because of the explosion of the fraud scandal in his state. The recent audit revealed more troubling questions about records being changed as well. Bessent doesn't strike me as a guy who shoots from the hip.

Hollywood leftists invent a new type of crime against humanity

And we now have an entirely new term coming out of the Hollywood left: “medicide.”

The definition was started in August of 2025 by the United Nations, which said that “medicide” is “the targeted destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system by the Israel Defense Forces.” This definition was created by Francesca Albanese, a recognized and well-documented anti-Semite.

It was based on the amount of hospitals in Gaza that were attacked by the IDF. Albanese and the UN, ignoring the reality that over 85% of medical facilities in Gaza were being used by Hamas as military bases

Dozens of celebrities, including Cynthia Nixon, Mark Ruffalo, Rosie O’Donnell, and Ilana Glazer, have signed a letter to the world demanding that Israel stop committing medicide. They claim that Israel has “undermined Gaza’s healthcare system for more than two decades.”

The truth is the exact opposite. There are currently 23 hospitals in Gaza, 13 of which were actually built by Israel (some older ones were built by the British Mandate, the Anglican Church, and others).

The letter claims that Israel “blocks the entry of medicines, medical equipment” and more into Gaza. The truth is that, since the war started on October 7, Israel has provided over 398,530 tons of humanitarian aid and over 279,780 tons of food into Gaza, through an average of 70 food trucks per day.

While all wars are ugly, Israel’s humanitarian actions are unique in history when it comes to the quantity of aid being given to an enemy.

DOJ fires top lawyer who refused to prosecute Comey

The Department of Justice just fired the second-in-command official at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Robert McBride has been axed from his role as first assistant to interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan after he refused to pursue charges against disgraced ex-FBI Director James Comey.

Halligan had also recently learned that McBride held private meetings with federal judges in the Eastern District of Virginia, according to a source familiar with McBride’s removal.

That source said the meeting was convened without Halligan’s knowledge and was viewed as undermining the administration. The offices of the attorney general and deputy attorney general supported McBride’s removal and the Executive Office of U.S Attorneys signed the paperwork to remove him.

A source familiar with McBride’s firing tells that McBride refused to take on immigration-related cases including plans to counter sanctuary policies and drug enforcement.

In Germany bankruptcies hit 20-year high last year

The latest economic figures for Berlin are dramatic, revealing that 2025 saw more companies file for bankruptcy than at any point in the last two decades, all despite a promised economic turnaround from the Christian Democrat (CDU) government.

The wave of insolvencies grew significantly toward the end of the year, affecting the lives of thousands of employees. According to the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle, the annual total reached a historically high 17,604 bankruptcies. This translates to an average of 48 partnerships and corporations going out of business every day in Germany, according to Bild newspaper.

December was particularly severe, with 1,519 insolvency applications filed. This figure was 75 percent higher than the average for December between 2016 and 2019, prior to the pandemic.

Jonas Eckhardt, an economic expert from the transformation consultancy Falkensteg, told Bild that “the German economy is no longer just struggling with headaches. She’s got a fever. That won’t change anytime soon.“

In other words, signals from all sides clearly point to another “storm” in the Middle East.

Soccer moms are becoming ICE saboteurs

During the riots of 2020, many of the agitators, who burned down cities and assaulted cops were shadowy Antifa types and anti-social wackos, mostly male and in their 20s or early 30s.

But as anti-ICE protests ramp up across the country, we’re seeing a new archetype of trained instigators: regular moms and women of all ages, who are forming reckless resistance forces to disrupt and antagonize federal law enforcement.

The escalation of tactics resulted in the tragic shooting death of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent last week. The mother of three was reportedly an anti-ICE “warrior” trained to physically intervene in arrests. She had been using her SUV to block ICE as her wife filmed the altercation, in the minutes before her death.

Now many women are finding their purpose and identity through aggressive activism: becoming anti-ICE social media influencers, undergoing training as “legal observers,” and creating physical chaos to obstruct federal law enforcement.
It’s as naive as it is dangerous.

American power can make itself known in various ways, as Teddy Roosevelt brilliantly outlined with his famous admonition to “Speak softly and carry a big stick.” ruth be told, Donald Trump has never been a fan of speaking softly, but his Tuesday comments on the upheavals in Iran still managed to be close enough for now.

In an extraordinary post on Truth Social addressed to “Iranian Patriots,” the president urged them to “KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!”” He followed with what looks like a promise to use the Big Stick, by saying “Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price.”

The dramatic increase in the use of force clearly prompted Trump to change his tone and add his Tuesday threat of possible military action.

Still, that does not add up to a compelling reason for the US to engage in regime change, which would not be a cakewalk. The experience in Iraq haunts even American hawks, and Trump himself has called the Iraq invasion under George W. Bush and the toppling of Saddam Hussein a stupid war that cost America far too much in both blood and treasure.

The wheel of history is now coming full circle, with Trump facing warnings that a similarly tragic outcome could occur if he were to help topple the ayatollah.

States are advancing plans to monitor your mileage and eventually limit how much you drive. Soon, blue state governments could begin tracking your odometer in a bid to lower tailpipe emissions, reduce traffic and raise revenue.

Massachusetts lawmakers are weighing a bill that seeks to move the state closer to a net-zero carbon emissions mandate by expanding public transportation and coming up with a plan to cut back on car trips. According to state data, the transportation sector is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Massachusetts.

The bill does not specify how miles would be tracked or how car trips would be reduced. But wary residents view the legislation as a scheme to eventually curb car trips with an odometer tax or other restrictions to keep personal vehicles off the roads.

The state is also experimenting with technology that could be used to implement a mileage-based user fee to reduce car traffic and raise revenue “to close the highway funding gap and ensure everyone is paying their fair share,” according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Minnesota is among dozens of states researching or piloting programs to charge fees based on a driver’s vehicle mileage. Many state programs are aimed at making up for gas tax revenue lost by the increase in electric vehicles, which are heavier than gas-powered automobiles and cause more stress to roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

Medical professionals involved in the case are accused of negligence and causing pain, suffering, and mental anguish “of a permanent nature” to the plaintiff, formerly known as Isabella Basile, according to court documents. Defendants allegedly failed to inform the teen of “the risks, hazards, and alternatives” involved in the medical procedures she underwent, according to the lawsuit.

Defendants have denied any wrongdoing, saying in court documents that at the time of the surgery, “the plaintiff still identified as a male, was happy without breasts, and did not regret her decision.”
