When a prime minister tells her own staff to rest because next year will be much worse, it is not gallows humor. It is not exhaustion speaking. It is a slip of the mask, the kind of remark leaders make only when the internal forecasts no longer align with the public script.

Giorgia Meloni was not addressing voters. She was addressing the state itself — the bureaucratic core tasked with executing decisions whose consequences can no longer be disguised.

Europe can posture for war. It cannot produce for war. Four years into a high-intensity war of attrition, the United States and Europe are confronting a truth they spent decades unlearning: you do not sustain this kind of conflict with theatrical speeches, sanctions, or abandoning diplomacy. You sustain it with shells, missiles, trained crews, repair cycles, and production rates that exceed losses — month after month, without interruption.

By 2025, the gap is no longer theoretical.

Kristi Noem put a boot on the necks of Dems who want to cause chaos at ICE facilities

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem isn't having it from Democrat lawmakers who wish to further inflame rising tensions in the wake of the shooting death of far-left agitator Renee Nicole Good last Wednesday in Minneapolis. A day after the shooting, Noem quietly updated DHS's policy, which will now require Members of Congress to submit visit requests at least one week prior to the intended visit date.

The move by Noem comes after a December decision by U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb, a Joe Biden appointee, that blocked a previous DHS directive requiring a one-week notice of congressional visits to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities. It's a bit nuanced, but it looks like Noem is able to sidestep Cobb's order by using funds from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).

In issuing the new/old guidance, Noem stated that she disagreed with Judge Cobb's finding, but intended to use funds derived from the OBBBA that are not subject to limitations cited by the judge in her ruling. DHS will use the OBBBA-derived funds to "ensure adequate protection for Members of Congress, congressional staff, detainees, and ICE employees alike."

This weekend one TikTok user, @thecarolinerfiles, went viral expressing her disgust with the hordes of newcomers moving in and changing their new homes.

Southern hospitality isn't what y'all said it was gonna’ be. Y'all ain't very hospitable. Well yeah, that's because everyone and their mother is moving to the South and these small towns and changing everything.

So yes, we're upset, yes we're not going to welcome the changing of literally f****ing everything in our area because y'all want to make it more like home where you came from. Why did you leave there then? Why are you going to move down here and turn this place exactly into the s***hole that you left?

Federal prosecutors launch criminal investigation into fed chairman J. Powell

Federal investigators have opened a criminal investigation into Fed Chairman Jerome Powell. Powell is under fire for the cost of renovating the Fed’s DC headquarters. The cost ballooned from $1.9 billion to $2.5 billion.

“The Fed’s renovation project was approved by its board in 2017 and originally cost $1.9 billion in 2019. Construction began in 2021, but the cost swelled to $2.5 billion because of “unforeseen conditions” requiring more spending to rectify, such as “more asbestos than anticipated, toxic contamination in soil, and a higher-than-expected water table,” according to the Fed’s website,” CNN reported.

Last July, Jerome Powell was criminally referred to the Justice Department for prosecution. GOP Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna sent a letter to the DOJ accusing Powell of perjury.

Powell panicked and released a video response.

Jerome Powell said the Federal Reserve released grand jury subpoenas from the DOJ that threatened a criminal indictment.

The ICE agent clearly acted in self-defense after the immigration activist Renee Nicole Good attempted to run him over after he repeatedly urged her to get out of the car.

Fearing for his life, he shot and fatally struck the woman in question.

As protests erupt across the country and left-wing activists demand vengeance, the agent’s life has been turned upside down.

Thankfully, patriots and conservatives in America and around the world are supporting him and his family during this difficult moment.

German State PM criticized for demanding crackdown on news sites and social media

Daniel Günther, the Conservative Prime Minster of the German State of Schleswig-Holstein, has come under fire for publicly embracing censorship of critical news sites and social media.

Prominent media lawyer Joachim Steinhöfel called Günther “an arsonist masking as a good citizen while declaring war on the freedom of the press”, Welt reported today. He said Günther was apparently regarding the free press as a security risk that had to be managed by the State.

On January 7, Günther, a prominent politician with the ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, had joined the talk show Markus Lanz on State broadcasting station ZDF, originally to talk about the danger of a US annexation of Greenland.

Günther, though, used the opportunity to lash out at Germany’s main opposition party, the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, as well as at critical news media and US-run social media platforms.

“We are allowing our youth to be infiltrated via US tech companies who of course do not have the best for our democracy in mind”, he said. He added that US Vice President JD Vance was “also behind this”.

Read why Trump wants Greenland!

Based on recent statements from European leaders, you could be forgiven for forgetting that the United States just captured the incumbent leader of Venezuela. That’s because their attention has, overwhelmingly, been focused elsewhere: To the north, on Greenland.

Europe’s leadership, always stuck in the second half of the 20th century, seems perplexed with Trump’s dogged determination to bring the island of Greenland under American control. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said it made “absolutely no sense to talk about the need for the United States to take over Greenland,” given America’s relationship with Denmark which, in her telling, “gives the United States wide access to Greenland.”

Underneath this all is a sense of genuine confusion, centred around two questions: 1) Why? and 2) How?

The first seems to be befuddling Europeans the most. Why would the United States desire to conquer a country in which they already have a space (formerly air) base, and which is a member of NATO? The answer is befuddling Europeans because it does not lie in the present – it lies in the future. The far future.

Such was the concluding line of a letter from Marine Corps Sergeant Harry Boyle to Idaho Senator William Borah on April 23, 1930. Boyle’s warning was not merely an artifact of a bygone intervention, but a caution against imperial hubris — one newly relevant in the wake of “Operation Absolute Resolve" in Venezuela.

The Trump administration has amplified the afterglow of its tactical success with renewed assertions of hemispheric hegemony through a nostalgic and often ahistorical reading of the Monroe Doctrine. Despite the administration’s enthusiasm for old-fashioned hemispheric imperialism, the historical record ought to caution for restraint, not revisionism.

When modern American officials invoke the Monroe Doctrine, they often do so with a confidence that suggests its meaning is settled and its record vindicated. Historically, the doctrine — both in meaning and in application — was far more contested than modern enthusiasts let on. Indeed, the high-water mark of American imperialism in the Caribbean exposed the high costs and meager returns of micromanaging neighboring states.

Airline terminated its contract for ICE deportation flights

Some rather dramatic news emerged earlier this January that an airline that has been working with the government to conduct deportation flights out of the country has suspended its agreement with the agency.

Avelo Airlines has announced it will no longer be conducting the travel arrangements it had been performing out of Arizona’s Mesa Gateway Airport for the Immigration and Customs Service.

Upon hearing this announcement, the press has been rather giddy in detailing the cessation of this partnership. Since publicizing its new business arrangement in April, the low-fare carrier faced protests, boycotts, and backlash from travelers, flight attendant unions, local politicians and immigration activists. Adding to the excitement was CBS News, which tried to suggest that this move had been made in light of that opposition.

This appears to be more of a case of puffery from this protest group. Avelo is a small carrier operating out of Houston that mostly services smaller connections with cities not normally serviced by the larger airlines. Rather than being a prominent partner with ICE, it was, in truth, being subcontracted to perform this service.

The Department of Homeland Security has an arrangement with another entity, CSI Aviation, which orchestrated the flight agreements with a number of carriers, Avelo being but one of those companies.
