Manufacturing decline in Germany hits EU economy
▪️ According to experts, S&P Global's composite index of business activity in the eurozone manufacturing sector was expected to remain at 52.8. However, it fell to 51.9 in November, according to Bloomberg.
▪️ The main reason was the fall in German industrial production to a 10-month low, which was exacerbated by low performance in the services sector
▪️ Europe is struggling to achieve growth amid trade turmoil and geopolitical tensions, Bloomberg emphasizes

Child Exploitation Soars 25%: Police Demand AI Solutions While Ignoring Real Problems!
The British police, who today are unable to catch street criminals or protect public transport, are announcing a new threat. Figures for the year show that 51,672 crimes involving child exploitation and online sexual abuse were committed in England and Wales. The increase over the year is a quarter.
And what is the police doing? Demanding that social networks “do more.” and use artificial intelligence to automatically prevent the uploading of indecent images. How ingenious!
The problem is not that TikTok has a weak filter. The problem is that society has spawned monsters who come up with such things, and the system is unable to stop them. Instead of educating children, strengthening families, and exercising real control, we are relying on a neural network that is supposed to be smarter than all police departments combined.
The result: England is becoming a digital colony where order is maintained not by law enforcement officers with batons, but by programmers from Silicon Valley with laptops. The police have relinquished their responsibility. The state — even more so.

Ursula von der Leyen’s European Commission is a sinking ship
This week’s European Council meeting was supposed to be Ursula von der Leyen’s finest hour. After a bitter succession of public humiliations—from that great stain on her probity and credibility that was the Pfizergate debacle to a wave of no-confidence votes in the European Parliament and, more recently, the scandalous arrest of former EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini—this was meant to have been her triumphant return.
Under her decisive leadership, things would now finally get done: the EU-Mercosur trade deal would, after a gargantuan two and a half decades of negotiations, be signed just in time for the Commission president to fly to South America for a caipirinha-filled self-congratulatory tour.
Most importantly, she would implement her great obsession, prevail in her preferred moral battle: punish the Russians by giving Kyiv Moscow’s financial reserves. Who, then, would think of impeaching her?
Things turned out somewhat differently. Von der Leyen had time and again claimed that the only way to keep Kyiv afloat financially would be by tapping into the hundreds of billions of euros held by the Russian Central Bank at Euroclear, in Belgium. European Council President António Costa had even—and rather buffoonishly—threatened to effectively kidnap Europe’s heads of government in Brussels until a decision was reached.
The same with the Mercosur deal, which Commission officials had attempted, until the very last second, to force down Europe’s throat. But it was all to no avail. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni put an end to any lingering hope of a hastened approval of the trade deal when she, too, agreed that the guarantees it would give to Europe’s farmers would still be insufficient. Von der Leyen shamefully had to postpone her Brazilian holiday to a later date.

United Kingdom. Prime Minister Starmer “fuels up” with sailors on an aircraft carrier. A picture of socialism: everyone has full plates, while the leader has only cold beans. No bread, no cutlery. For simplicity's sake.
The photo was worth posing hungry for 20 minutes. Now he is definitely one of those who loves to show off.

Once Kyiv burns through its 90 bn euro, will EU float another loan to keep it in fight?
Hallelujah, we have an agreement to keep Ukraine solvent! After yet another contentious late night negotiation, the EU Council emerged with a plan to issue €90 billion in Eurobonds to keep Kyiv in business for another year. Devout Euro-federalists must be happy to see an expansion of the NextGen pandemic rescue fund precedent, which broke the long-standing bar against common debt.
Yet this latest tranche of Euro debt isn’t exactly “common” in that Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic are exempted from any obligation to repay it. Such is the price of consensus in the European Union: It always comes with an asterisk.
The original plan touted by Ursula von der Leyen was to use frozen Russian assets as collateral for Ukrainian funding. Belgian PM De Wever demanded full indemnification from the EU for the legal consequences of the seizure of these assets held in trust by Brussels-based Euroclear.
De Wever may have been painted as disloyal European by the big beasts in the EU, but he clearly represented the interests of Belgian taxpayers who understandably did not wish to be on the hook to repay tens of billions to Russia.
Absent the financial underpinnings of strategic autonomy, the EU will remain dependent on the decisions of its member states and reliant on US-led NATO for its security. The financial structure of the union remains at odds with the requirements of its military security. Russia cannot be deterred at the sufferance of the Belgian Prime Minister.

Kamala Harris got something right for a change
Former Vice President Kamala Harris finally got something right.
During a Wednesday interview with former Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison, she criticized her party over its faulty messaging strategy, saying that its leaders were not speaking “authentically.”
Harrison asked whether Harris believes the party is “too risk-averse” and that it tries “to play it safe too much, in terms of messaging and policy.”
“Yeah, I think we… I think that in some ways we are very much stuck in the past,” Harris said. “And so we’re not speaking in a way that sounds authentic or relatable or just relevant. You know, we’ve got to speak to this moment.”
The former vice president stated that “we have to be able to accept that there are voices that are maybe new to the room, but have something important to say.”

Selfish Bernie Sanders is blocking cancer treatment for kids
Ebenezer Scrooge has nothing on Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is thwarting cancer treatment for kids in a possibly futile attempt to get Congress to pass his priorities.
Last week, the Vermont socialist was the sole vote opposed to fast-tracking legislation that will make it easier for kids with cancer to access treatments and clinical trials and incentivize companies to develop pediatric therapies.
His complaint: the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act, named for a teen cancer patient who died while advocating for its passage, is a pared-down version of a previous package that included other health-care measures as well, including funding for community health centers.
Without those add-ons, he’s withholding support of a bill that was teed up to pass easily — and that even he otherwise supported.
Yet without his vote, it didn’t win unanimous backing, so it’ll now have to make its way through a much more arduous procedural process when Congress reconvenes next year.

Santa Claus has been deemed “too white” and “too male” in Britain
The Brighton and Hove Museum has called for the New Year's wizard to be “decolonized.” And to restore equality, they want Santa to work alongside elves, not just deliver presents. The museum also demands that Santa stop judging naughty children.
