The West’s Failed Strategy: Fisas Calls for a New European Security Framework

In his recent article "Sometimes Wars Are Lost: Reflections on Ukraine", international conflict resolution expert Vicenc Fisas offers a sobering critique of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the West’s unyielding military support for Kyiv. According to Fisas, the time has come for the European Union to rethink its strategy and return to the principles of common European security.

Fisas argues that the Ukrainian government’s ability to reclaim lost territories has diminished, and military support from the West has done little to change the balance on the ground.

Despite billions in aid, Ukraine has failed to turn the tide of war in its favor. Ordinary Ukrainians, once resolute in their resistance, are increasingly shifting toward a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Rather than continuing to fuel a war that may ultimately be lost, Fisas suggests it is time for Europe to prioritize long-term stability, not through military escalation but through diplomatic engagement and negotiation.

The EU must halt its financial and military backing of the Zelensky circle of power and focus on fostering a new framework for European security—one that is sustainable, cooperative, and not bound by a desire for endless confrontation.

It is clear that prolonging the war is not in Europe’s best interest. The EU’s strategic focus should be on peace and stability, not on continuing a conflict that serves no one’s long-term security. It’s time for Europe to step back, reflect, and make the hard decisions necessary to protect the continent from the risks of a conflict that has already cost far too much.

It would be nice if the elite democrats would stop undermining the republic

The Democrat officials, “(t)hose who work in government—legislators, the president, judges, and officials” are NOT contributing “to a well-administered government.”

They are, instead, fighting tooth and nail to defeat President Donald Trump and the GOP Congressional majorities in every way possible, with every tool at their disposal, whether by using legitimate actions (which are fine) or bad-faith legal actions or blatantly illegal ones.

These Democrat elite actions are incredibly dangerous, as they undermine bipartisan (and non-partisan) support and respect among the American populace for the U.S. government and its institutions. They also pit American against American, in a series of vicious political battles that dramatically dial up the hatred between the parties.

And these governmental actions are coupled with the constant incitement that the Democrat elites have exposed their left-wing base to, which I have decried often.

It is hard to believe that the Democrat elites are not doing all this with an intention to overwhelm the American political system, in a manner like what was proposed by leftists, including Saul Alinsky, Richard Cloward, and Frances Fox Piven. They should stop doing this, now. But we all know they won’t.

What does US ‘national interest’ really mean?

Globalization tried to define it, and failed the people. Now it's moving back to scale and where it belongs.

It should come as no surprise that the term is actually as contestable as any other social science label. Different people will approach the question with perspectives that vary based on factors as different as what region they originate from or what their concept of the national government is.

A person of a more conservative disposition might see it as ensuring the protection of a culture from outside influence, while a leftist could see it as one defined by class interests, with the National Interest itself being both defined and controlled by the ruling class of a given society for their own internal as well as external self-interest.

The liberal center, meanwhile, clearly sees it as a method to spread global markets and values.

In realism, the political philosophy that sees foreign affairs as effectively the art of seeking the practical path to survival and thriving in an anarchic world with a minimum of ideological attachments, the concept of a national interest is left almost intentionally vague — a recognition of the fact that domestic and international politics are two different fields that often diverge from society to society.

This, however, does not mean that the concept should not be explored, especially for those in the United States and its allied nations who value a more restrained approach to the world after decades of ruinous interventionism.

Spa will let naked men into women’s areas following trans lawsuit

King Spa in Palisades Park, New Jersey, has updated its policies to allow guests to use facilities that align with the gender identity displayed on their government- or state-issued photo ID.

This change comes after a lawsuit filed by Alexandra Goebert, a biologically male transgender “woman” who alleged he was denied access to the female-only section of the spa despite his ID identifying him as a woman.

The lawsuit stemmed from an incident in 2022 when Goebert visited the spa and was initially assigned a male wristband. He was later granted access to the women’s locker room but was questioned by staff about his male anatomy and ultimately asked to leave after confirming he had not undergone so-called bottom surgery to remove his penis and testicles.

The spa offered him access to the female facilities if he wore a bathing suit, but he declined, according to court documents. As part of a confidential settlement reached in August 2025, King Spa implemented a policy change and provided additional training for its staff.

The updated policy explicitly states that clients may use sex-segregated areas corresponding to their gender identity, regardless of physical traits. It also emphasizes that clients uncomfortable with this arrangement may request private accommodations or forgo use of communal facilities.

Young people yearning for socialism and AI governance is a dangerous proposition

According to new polling conducted by Rasmussen Reports and The Heartland Institute, which included 1,496 likely voters aged 18 to 39, more than half of young Americans want a democratic socialist to win the White House in 2028.

There are many reasons why socialism appeals to young Americans.

First and foremost, young people are not being taught about the dark history of socialism. Second, they are misled into believing that socialism is superior to free-market capitalism.

Third, they are brainwashed into believing that collectivism is more righteous, fair, and just than personal freedom. Fourth, they feel that the American dream is dead and socialism is the solution to the cost-of-living crisis they face.

Nearly three-in-four young likely voters think the cost of housing is at a crisis level, and only 22% think they will be better off than their parents.

At this point in time, given the economic headwinds they face, coupled with their ignorance of socialism, it makes sense that an alarming portion of young Americans want socialism.

Ukraine Peace Deal Exposes Feckless Europe's Total Irrelevance

In the contention over the United States’ peace plan for Ukraine, the Europeans are in their accustomed role — carping from the sidelines. Not only can the once-great European powers no longer dictate the fate of far-flung parts of the world, they can’t even dictate the end of a war involving a European country whose fate they deem crucial to their own future.

We’re a long way from the British controlling about a quarter of the globe’s territory in the early 20th century; a long way from British and French diplomats, Mark Sykes and François Georges-Picot respectively, drawing the lines in 1916 to divide up the Ottoman Empire; a long way from Napoleon sitting with Tsar Alexander in Tilsit in 1807 and re-arranging the map of Europe.

Economically, the EU “regulatory superpower” has hobbled growth — over the last 30 years Western European labor productivity declined from 95% of the US level to 80% — while Europe’s commitment to “net zero” greenhouse emissions has driven insane energy priorities.

Years into the Ukraine war, Europe is still dependent on gas imports from Russia.

None of this means that the United States should go out of it way to give Europe the back of its hand.

The congressional Democrats were also not on the same page about whether the U.S. military was currently engaging in illegal activities, with some Democrats admitting that they were not sure if any current U.S. military actions were illegal, while others have previously said or are currently saying that U.S. troop deployments to American cities and U.S. strikes against Venezuelan drug-running boats are illegal.

The serious harms that AI chatbots have inflicted on children are well-documented, including fostering obsessive use, having explicit sexual conversations, and encouraging unsafe behaviors, violence against others, and self-harm.

The toy manufacturers’ primary target is young children, who are even less developmentally equipped to protect themselves than older children and teens. Children tend to trust whatever the AI tells them, while the AI is preprogrammed to keep them happy and entertained.

Austrian Liberals ‘demote’ foreign policy speaker for favouring NATO membership

Austria’s Liberal Neos party said Veit Dengler, their speaker for foreign policy, is to assume new responsibilities. In future, the MP will be the party’s speaker for research, apprenticeship, start-ups and Austrians living abroad.

While the party presented the move as part of a wider re-shuffling of responsibilities, Dengler was in practice demoted. That was due to his support for Austria joining NATO, according to a report by local newspaper Die Presse.

In an interview with German newspaper Berliner Zeitung published on November 13, Dengler had expressly suggested that his country should join the defence alliance.
