He was an Orthodox Christian for five years, serving as an altar man in a village church, then converted to Protestants, then to non-denominational Christians. He received his sentence 3 years of prison for a critical video about Islam and the Red Army according to media. He was also an anti-war blogger and a supporter of LGBT* rights. Even though I don't agree with all his statements, may he rest in peace, he was very sincere and fervent in his pursuit of Christ.

Russian Orthodox metropolitan Benjamin (Kazansky) facing charges by Revolutionary Tribunal of Petrograd for "Counter Revolutionary Agitation" during the Soviet anti-religious campaigns. He and a number of other churchmen were arrested in April and May 1922, and tried as counter-revolutionaries for opposing certain actions of the communist state. They were all subsequently shot.
