"In normal times, each of these acts would spark outrage and protests, but this onslaught has been too fast and too overwhelming to fully report, let alone counter, especially during a pandemic when gatherings of more than two people have been banned" –@LimLouisa link source

My piece for @guardian on the horror show that is Beijing's assault on Hong Kong. Put simply, within a month, Beijing has dismantled a partially free society and is trying to use its new law to enforce global censorship on speech regarding Hong Kong. htt…
@chenchenzh I love Wang Xiaobo too but sometimes I do wonder if he'd become another Trump-idolizing beaconist had he lived to this day 🤣 source
@chenchenzh haha hopefully! But in his writing ("zawen" essays in particular) I did find a tendency toward oversimplification & Manichean dualism though. He also had his fair share of biases too, e.g. northern culture/language chauvinism, toxic masculinity, etc. so i dunno... source
ppl weirded out by 20+ year olds in fandoms is Always Funny to me bc i Remember being 15 and reading my favorite fics written by a 30 year old Lady that talked about her Husband & her Cats in the Notes & being like. Please dont leave me i am Nothing Without ur Superior Literature source
@chenchenzh but to his credit (or Li Yinhe's?) he was firmly against anti-gay bigotry, which might be something that could set him apart from Chuanfen (also, a year after he died his younger brother was killed by a black robber in Detroit- would it have affect his race view if he were alive? source
