美国国务卿布林肯星期二（4月20日）与代表八个国家的八位人权捍卫者进行了视频会议，了解他们为推动人权所做的工作以及面临的挑战，并听取了他们对美国人权政策的建议。参加这次会议的中国人权律师滕彪建议美国政府与中国官员会谈时应要求中国当局关闭在新疆的拘留营和释放政治犯。他还认为，美国及其盟友应对北京冬奥会进行外交抵制并把更多的人权侵犯者列入制裁名单。
