OFCOM’S NEW “CRISIS” RULES
Ofcom has introduced new measures requiring relevant social media platforms to have special protocols ready for a “crisis” - defined as an extraordinary situation involving a serious threat to public safety in the UK.
So who decides when we're in a “crisis”?
Officially, the platforms do - not Ofcom or the Government... but here's the catch:
Ofcom defines what counts as a crisis. Ofcom regulates the platforms. Ofcom scrutinises whether they comply with their legal duties. And Ofcom can contact individual platforms when it believes “specific risks” are emerging.
And we know this isn't hypothetical...
During the recent Belfast unrest, Ofcom said it was already “contacting individual providers where we believe there are specific risks” and reminding them of what it expected them to do.
Under the new measures, certain large platforms are also expected to maintain dedicated channels for crisis-related communications with law enforcement.
So imagine a controversial event unfolding

DEVICE ACESS: Minister Lisa Nandy says the Govt plans new law requiring major tech companies to build government-mandated “protections” directly into phones and tablets
So how will people use the internet without surrendering their identity information?
Lisa Nandy and Department for Culture, Media and Sport should answer this simple question
We don’t want to ID the internet - and we don't want our personal devices turned into government-controlled checkpoints

"Running costs of vaccine damage scheme more than double amount paid to victims"
"The government scheme to support people injured by Covid jabs and other jabs has cost £83m to run since April 2022, new figures have revealed.
The amount spent on administration costs and medical assessments is more than double the £32m paid out in financial support to victims so far."

How will adults access the unrestricted internet without proving who they are?
Under the Government’s plans, increasingly, they won’t.
Minister Lisa Nandy says the Government will introduce a new law requiring major tech platforms to build government-mandated “protections” directly into phones and tablets.
Adults may then have to prove their age to switch them off. But meaningful proof of age ultimately means some form of identity verification - whether through official documents, facial estimation or another approved system.
The direction of travel is clear: they want you to submit to an identity check - or accept a restricted internet.
We say: Don't ID The Internet. Stop digital ID and age verification systems that function as identity checks, plus device-level surveillance on apps and phones in the UK. Protect parental control and privacy. Protect the open internet.

FLASHBACK: (Feb 2021)
Matt Hancock "The AstraZeneca Jab is safe, get the jab"
After Matt Hancock said this jab was safe and people took it, and were harmed, tens of thousands have applied for help from the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme.
A staggering 99% of them have been denied or delayed.
The “lucky” 1% have been left with payments that usually fall far short of what real-life injuries (including deaths) demand.

A “social media ban for children” actually risks ID checks for ALL OF US before we can speak online.
Parents already have tools to protect their children. Children do not buy smartphones for themselves. Adults choose to provide devices and decide how they are used.
If a parent wants parental controls, they can enable them today.
There is nothing safe about a society where ordinary people must be identified, monitored, and recorded simply to participate.

As this video shows, the amount of information modern technology can piece together about us is frightening.
We are in a new paradigm. Never before has so much personal information been so easily gathered, connected and analysed.
But at least you can leave Facebook, change your bank or switch off your devices.
You can’t opt out of the state - which is why the technology it uses demands even greater scrutiny.

Online bank Revolut handed customers’ passports, verification selfies and financial histories to criminals who posed as government officials.
The information disclosed may have included names, dates of birth, home addresses, identity documents, account statements, withdrawal records and complete Bitcoin transaction histories. Around 680 customer accounts are now understood to have been affected.
Revolut says its systems were not hacked - that's right, they didn't need to be, because Revolut handed the information over!
This is what can happen when ever more of our sensitive information is collected, connected and made available through digital systems.

The open internet has been one of the greatest forces for freedom and human progress in modern history.
It has given ordinary people the power to learn, create, organise, challenge authority, campaign for change, and share ideas without needing permission from governments or corporations.
That freedom is now under threat.
The Government says its new proposals are about “protecting children online.”
But the reality is much broader.
These sweeping measures would affect everyone through age verification systems that increasingly operate as identity checks, device-level monitoring, and the progressive removal of anonymity online.
