Minister Lisa Nandy says the Govt plans new law requiring major tech companies to build government-mandated “protections” directly into phones and tablets
Nandy wants to take state control beyond websites and platforms - and right into the devices you own
We say: stop digital ID and age verification systems that function as identity checks, plus device-level surveillance on apps and phones in the UK. Protect parental control and privacy. Protect the open internet.

Sadiq Khan recently produced another study claiming ULEZ is a great success. A study that:
- Was partly funded by his own office
- Covers the entire "lockdown" period
- Comes from Queen Mary University - the same university where leaked emails showed Khan’s deputy, Shirley Rodrigues, asking academics to "reword" a previous study after it found "no evidence" of benefits to children’s lungs
Her complaint? "It reads like LEZ or similar have no impact at all."
Surely not, Mayor of London?!

Now Sadiq Khan wants new powers to ban wood-burning stoves.
This looks like a classic example of how billionaire-backed C40 Cities - which Khan co-chairs - operates:
Empower city mayors to impose extreme Net Zero policies locally, bypassing national debate and making them harder for the public to resist.
Andy Burnham signed a major C40 transport declaration as Greater Manchester Mayor.
His campaign to transfer still more power from Parliament to regional mayors such as Khan should be examined in that context.

Running costs of Covid vaccine damage scheme double the amount paid to victims
The cost of administration and medical checks has now topped £83m, according to new figures.
Andy Burnham announced the official Digital ID scheme would be scrapped after millions saw the danger in "Digital Papers Please"
At the same time, related platform One Login has quietly expanded across 200+ government obligations and services - with more planned
We call for an immediate freeze on One Login pending independent review by the National Audit Office – meaning no further rollout or expansion until that review is complete, its findings have been addressed and safeguards are in place.

One Login has quietly expanded across 200+ government functions and processes - many of them obligations people must fulfil, rather than optional "services" - with more planned
We call for a clear statutory safeguard ensuring that participation in any digital identity system such as One Login remains strictly voluntary.

If One Login suffers a major failure, millions could be left unable to access services and obligations
A credible backup system, including offline alternatives, is essential so people are not locked out of services they rely on

OFCOM’S NEW “CRISIS” RULES
Ofcom has introduced new measures requiring relevant social media platforms to have special protocols ready for a “crisis” - defined as an extraordinary situation involving a serious threat to public safety in the UK.
So who decides when we're in a “crisis”?
Officially, the platforms do - not Ofcom or the Government... but here's the catch:
Ofcom defines what counts as a crisis. Ofcom regulates the platforms. Ofcom scrutinises whether they comply with their legal duties. And Ofcom can contact individual platforms when it believes “specific risks” are emerging.
And we know this isn't hypothetical...
During the recent Belfast unrest, Ofcom said it was already “contacting individual providers where we believe there are specific risks” and reminding them of what it expected them to do.
Under the new measures, certain large platforms are also expected to maintain dedicated channels for crisis-related communications with law enforcement.
So imagine a controversial event unfolding

DEVICE ACESS: Minister Lisa Nandy says the Govt plans new law requiring major tech companies to build government-mandated “protections” directly into phones and tablets
So how will people use the internet without surrendering their identity information?
Lisa Nandy and Department for Culture, Media and Sport should answer this simple question
We don’t want to ID the internet - and we don't want our personal devices turned into government-controlled checkpoints

How will adults access the unrestricted internet without proving who they are?
Under the Government’s plans, increasingly, they won’t.
Minister Lisa Nandy says the Government will introduce a new law requiring major tech platforms to build government-mandated “protections” directly into phones and tablets.
Adults may then have to prove their age to switch them off. But meaningful proof of age ultimately means some form of identity verification - whether through official documents, facial estimation or another approved system.
The direction of travel is clear: they want you to submit to an identity check - or accept a restricted internet.
We say: Don't ID The Internet. Stop digital ID and age verification systems that function as identity checks, plus device-level surveillance on apps and phones in the UK. Protect parental control and privacy. Protect the open internet.
