🧑‍💻‼️ IMPORTANT: New UK law could force age checks across the internet

It appears there’s a late change to the Children’s Wellbeing & Schools Bill currently going through Parliament that isn’t getting much public attention.

🔹 It adds a new power to UK data‑protection law (GDPR) that lets the Secretary of State make rules forcing online services to verify your age - not just rely on someone typing in a birthdate.

🔹 This could be used in future to require strong age‑assurance technology - potentially linked to things like digital ID systems - before anyone can use certain websites or apps.

🔹 This isn’t part of the normal regulator‑led Online Safety Act process - a Minister could decide the rules by regulation, not a regulator or Parliament directly.
