According to reports, #OpenAI may lose $5 billion this year and will run out of funds in 12 months unless it raises extra funding from investors.
OpenAI, the world's most valuable AI startup, allegedly spent $4 billion this year on cloud infrastructure alone and may spend another $3 billion or more on model training, despite the company's yearly sales of roughly $3.4 billion. If this stays the same, it just cannot survive.
As stated by industry practitioners, Meta's open-source Llama 3.1 model not only offers GPT-4 performance for almost free, but it also allows for self-training of smaller, specialized models, adding to the intense AI rivalry. #AI #Llama
