Reality: Proto-Indo-European originated on the European steppe among East European Hunter-Gatherer men with CHG wives. Anatolian languages came via a Balkan migration of PIEs from the steppe into northwest Anatolia.

Somebody has processed the genetic samples from the paper and it turns out that the Bronze Age Northwestern Anatolians (among whom the Proto-Indo-European derived I2a haplogroup was found) do show clear Proto-Indo-European or "Yamnaya-related" ancestry. The authors of the study just used a stupid admixture analysis that didn't even feature Yamnaya as a source population!
This is bad science, verging on academic fraud. How did this get past ~100 authors and a peer review without being corrected?
