Sophal Sea’s Journey against Plastic to Heal the Tonle Sap Lake
SIEM REAP — “I have heard a lot about ocean pollution,” said Sophal Sea. “However, I have rarely heard people express concern about the health of the Tonle Sap as it is affected by plastic pollution." Sophal is an environmentalist and head of a non-governmental organization working on tackling plastic pollution in the Tonle Sap Lake.
Born in Angkor Chum district in Siem Reap province, Sophal undertook graduate studies in Phnom Penh in the early 2000s. He obtained a degree in tourism management from the National University of Management in 2007, and then returned to his hometown to embark on a career as a tour guide.

Chinese President’s State Visit Reinforced Cambodia-China Ironclad Friendship, China’s Ambassador Says
PHNOM PENH — Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin on April 19 said that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s two-day state visit has shown that China is Cambodia’s most firm supporter and reliable partner.
Xi’s state visit to Cambodia, which took place on April 17 and 18, was the final stop of his Southeast Asian tour, which had also included Vietnam and Malaysia.

Ashram Maha Rusei: A Small Temple with a Long History
KAMPONG THOM - More than 10 centuries have passed since the time when Sambor Prei Kuk dominated the region, a city of great historical significance situated more or less at the center of today’s Cambodia territory.
Among them is a relatively small temple with priceless architectural and historical value: the temple of Ashram Maha Rusei. This modest temple plays an important role in the understanding of architecture in Cambodia’s pre-Angkorian period

More Chinese Movies Hoped to be Filmed in Cambodia
PHNOM PENH – More Chinese movies are expected to be filmed in Cambodia, while Cambodian movies are also hoped to be broadcasted in China. This aims to strengthen cultural exchange and people-to-people connection between the countries.
Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the president of China Media Group (CMG), expressed his hope for the exchange on April 17 during his speech at the launch of “Classical Quotes by Xi Jinping” program.
