Passion Week: Why does Palm Sunday matter?

On this day, we remember that ancient Sunday when the crowd in Jerusalem welcomed Jesus with palm leaves, days before Good Friday.

But did you know that there is another mention of a multitude waving palm branches in the Bible – of a time that is yet to come?

Over the next 7 days, we reflect on all the memorable events of #PassionWeek and what they mean to us as Christians today.

Passion Week: Why did Jesus curse the fig tree?

It's Holy Monday! We're taking a look at the often misunderstood account of Jesus cursing the fig tree.

Imagine you’re at the food court. 😋 A customer is unhappy because the ban mian auntie has yet to open her stall, even though opening hours haven’t started yet.

“May you never have business ever again!” you hear the customer say as he walks away. 👀

How can? But that's kinda what Jesus did leh... #PassionWeek

Passion Week: What does righteous anger look like?

On Day 3 of #PassionWeek, we revisit another instance where Jesus got so upset after arriving in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

Jesus appeared to get really worked up by people who were selling things in a temple bazaar – He even overturned tables and chased animals and their sellers out. 😡😡😡

Why was Jesus so mad? Does this mean we’re not allowed to sell books, food or anything in church?

Does your passion speak louder than your personality?

This being #PassionWeek, it's apt for us to explore the many meanings of "passion". We often think it's a feeling or emotion. But is it?

And if being outwardly passionate is just not our kind of thing, then what do we do? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Passion Week: How much are you willing to spend on Jesus? 💰

Many of us have read of the woman who broke the alabaster jar of perfume and anointed Jesus before He went to the cross.

That was a year's worth of salary: $6️⃣7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ on a bottle of perfume. Were the disciples right to question the extravagance when the money could have helped the poor?

Or did the woman see something they didn't? #HolyWednesday #PassionWeek

Passion Week: It’s more than just bread and wine

On #MaundyThursday, we remember 2⃣ very important things that happened on the eve of Jesus’ crucifixion. Both the Lord's Supper and the washing of feet have deep spiritual significance. 🫓🍷💦👣

How are they connected and what do they mean for us today? #PassionWeek

If Good Friday was a movie, then Jesus Christ would be its protagonist

When we think about the villains of #GoodFriday, we often think we're better than them. But the truth is we're no heroes ourselves.

Each of their stories warns us about the ways we ourselves might trip up and fall – and reminds us why we need the only good guy that has ever walked the earth.

We won’t spoil it any further for you, but you can check out these bad guys for yourself! #PassionWeek #Easter

COVID-19 and Super Silent Saturday: Living in the “not yet”

On that very first #SilentSaturday between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, there was fear, doubt, waiting… Isn’t that just like how we’re living in the "not yet”?

There's a deep longing in us for something more. Something ahead. It’s the cliffhanger right before the grand finale. How long more, Lord? #PassionWeek
