Thomas Sewell has launched legal action in the High Court to overturn "hate groups" laws used to ban the White Australia Party, and to obtain temporary protection for about 5,000 ex-members and associates while the case is being determined.
The application will be heard Thursday.

Friends! We come with a sad update.
On May 14th the court has chosen to REJECT Ben's appeal. He was informed of the decision only earlier today. This outcome was always likely, but we chose to hope for the best and we will continue to do so.
So, what now?
Ben is still eligible for parole from April of next year, however it may take months before an actual hearing takes place, and the process can once again be intentionally dragged out before a rejection is handed down. Until then it is another year that Ben is ripped away from his family, more missed birthdays and holidays that they could've spent together. The entire FBR staff share their pain and wish them to stay resolute in the face of persisting injustice.
We will keep carrying on and provide you with updates on Ben's well being and struggle, as well as with news on other people who similarly find themselves wronged by the powers that be.
Do not despair, for in the end we will prevail.
