हिन्दी पत्रकारिता दिवस (Hindi Journalism Day): 30 मई
30 मई वो तारीख है जब 'उदन्त मार्तण्ड' (Udant Martand) नाम से पहला हिन्दी अखबार निकाला गया. इसे पहली बार 30 मई 1826 को साप्ताहिक समाचार पत्र के तौर पर निकाला गया. जिसकी शुरुआत की कानपुर के पंडित जुगल किशोर शुक्ल ने, जो इस अखबार के लिए प्रकाशक भी थे और संपादक भी.
जिस दौर में इसका प्रकाशन हुआ वो दौर अंग्रेजों का था. जुगल किशोर ने इसकी शुरुआत के लिए कलकत्ता को चुना. इस शहर को अपनी कर्मस्थली बनाया. ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि उस दौर में ब्रिटिश भारत में अंग्रेजों का प्रभाव अधिक था. वहां अंग्रेजों की भाषा के बाद बांग्ला और उर्दू का भी असर देखने को मिल रहा था, लेकिन हिन्दी भाषा का एक भी समाचार पत्र नहीं था.
उदन्त मार्तण्ड’ अपने आप में एक साहसिक प्रयोग था, जिसकी पहले अंक की 500 प्रतियां छापी गई थीं. हिन्दी भाषी पाठकों की कमी के कारण कलकत्ता में उसे उतने पाठक नहीं मिले. 4 दिसम्बर 1826 में इसका प्रकाश बंद कर दिया गया.

US allows Ukraine to strike certain targets inside Russia with its weapons
According to Media reports, Washington allowed Kyiv to use US-provided weapons for counter-fire purposes and solely against sites near Russia’s border with Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region.
The report added the decision was adopted due to “worsening conditions” for Ukraine on the battlefield following Russia’s advances and improved position in the Kharkiv region.
However, the US policy regarding long-range strikes inside Russia has not changed and Ukraine was not given permission to use American weapons for attacks deep into Russia,
The decision draws Biden even deeper into a war in which Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly raised the prospect of a nuclear strike.

Germany also has announced that Ukrainian forces can use German-sent weapons against military targets inside Russia, following a similar decision from the US.

On World No Tobacco Day, the Ministry of Education released a guide for making schools tobacco-free. The "Protecting kids from tobacco companies" theme of this year's event was reflected in the new guide.
The guide is meant to assist schools in adhering to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's ToFEI guidelines, which will result in a healthier, tobacco-free atmosphere for kids.
According to the Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) from 2019, 8.5% of pupils between the ages of 13 and 15 use tobacco. Dr. Amarpreet Duggal, Joint Secretary of the DoSEL, stressed the significance of collective action among stakeholders in the fight against tobacco use among pupils.

Pakistan government has admitted before Islamabad High Court that PoK is a foreign territory. Pakistan
Additional Attorney General told the court that Kashmiri poet and journalist Ahmed Farhad Shah is under police custody in PoK and he cannot be produced before the Islamabad High Court as PoK in a foreign land which does not come under Pakistan’s jurisdiction. The court was hearing a petition filed by Shah’s wife after he was abducted from his residence in Rawalpindi by Pakistan’s intelligence agencies. Shah has been missing for the past two weeks and it was recently found that two cases have been lodged against him by the police in PoK.

Islamabad High Court asked if PoK is a foreign territory and not an integral part of Pakistan, then how did the Pakistani military and Pakistani Rangers enter the land. During the hearings, high Court judge Mohsin Akhter Kayani criticised Pakistan’s intelligence agencies for continuing the practice of forced abductions of people.
