The "first Black Briton" was actually a White woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, as per new genetic data.
The claim about the skeletonโs African origins was made in Prof David Olusogaโs documentary series, which told the story of the โenduring relationship between Britain and people whose origins lie in Africaโ.
In episode one, the Beachy Head woman was presented as โsub-Saharan African in originโ, and the programme featured a reconstruction of her features, with dark skin, hair and eyes.
In the programme, Prof Olusoga remarked that โsheโs a black Britonโ, while Jo Seaman, an expert archaeologist, explained that her African origins and the age of her remains were likely to have made her the โearliest black Britonโ.
Another academic hoax debunked.
