Rice prices have risen by 10% in just five days as a result of Dhaka duty cuts.

Prices of Indian rice have risen 10% in the previous five days after Bangladesh reduced import duties and taxes on rice from 62.5 to 25%, encouraging Indian businessmen to rush for export deals with the neighboring country. Bangladesh issued a declaration on June 22 allowing non-basmati rice imports till October 31. Bangladesh is buying rice from India for the first time, since there is concern that India would impose a restriction on rice exports.

India sees a 45 percent increase in daily covid count, with 17,073 new cases.

India recorded 17,073 new Covid cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 4,34,07,046, a 45 percent increase from yesterday. On Sunday, there were 11,739 new Covid-19 cases and 25 fatalities in the country. The death toll has risen to 5,25,020 with 21 new deaths, according to statistics from the Union Health Ministry, which was updated at 8 a.m.
