Foreign ministers from Turkiye and 17 other countries condemned Somaliland’s “illegal and unacceptable” decision to open its embassy in occupied Jerusalem, calling it a violation of international law and UN resolutions.

The joint statement reaffirmed East Jerusalem as occupied Palestinian territory since 1967 and stressed support for Somalia’s unity and sovereignty.

Somaliland remains unrecognized internationally, with Israel the only entity to recognize it, reportedly for military ambitions, including plans to establish a military base near Yemen.
