🚨 The U.S. Central Command said it will block entry and exit from Iranian ports starting at 10:00 AM Monday U.S. Eastern Time (14:00 GMT).
The command stated in a release that the blockade “will be fairly enforced on vessels of all countries” heading to or departing from Iranian ports, including ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. At the same time, it stressed that its forces “will not obstruct the freedom of navigation of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.”
It added that it will provide commercial mariners with additional guidance through official notices before implementation, urging them to monitor “Notice to Mariners” broadcasts and to communicate via maritime channel 16 when navigating the Gulf of Oman and the entrances to the Strait of Hormuz.
