🚨Breaking | Ceasefire with Iran does not calm U.S. political turmoil over Trump threats – Axios

President Trump’s announcement of a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday failed to ease growing Democratic calls in Congress to impeach or remove him under the 25th Amendment.

The ceasefire was declared just an hour before Trump’s self-imposed deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, following his earlier threat that “an entire civilization will die tonight, and it will never be restored.”

Democratic representatives, including Shri Thanedar (Michigan), Jasmine Crockett (Texas), John Larson (Connecticut), and Yasmin Ansari (Arizona), pushed for Trump’s removal or for action against officials such as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, citing the war with Iran as one of multiple alleged violations.

More than 85 Democrats in the House have publicly demanded action, including prominent progressives like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

🚨 If Iran imposes fees on the Strait of Hormuz... what about the U.S. Fifth Fleet?

CNN – Two of Iran’s demands stemming from the ceasefire agreement, published in statements from the Supreme National Security Council and official media, have raised questions about the continued presence of the U.S. Navy in the Middle East.

First, Tehran wants to impose fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz; second, it appears to want to push U.S. combat forces out of the region.

The main question: Will warships be subject to these fees?

The U.S. Fifth Fleet, under U.S. Central Command, is based in Bahrain, within the Gulf. It is responsible for a maritime area of 2.5 million square miles, including the Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Red Sea, and parts of the Indian Ocean.

In addition to the Strait of Hormuz, the Fifth Fleet also oversees key maritime chokepoints such as the Suez Canal in the northern Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the south.

🚨 Strait of Hormuz transit fees... Oman and Iran at odds, and the U.S. offers a surprise

The potential imposition of fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has become a focal point of discussions following the temporary ceasefire with Iran, highlighting clear differences between Oman and Iran regarding the management of one of the world’s most important maritime passages.

Oman’s position
Oman’s Transport Minister Said Al-Maawali stated on Wednesday that the sultanate is committed to all international maritime transport agreements, which stipulate no fees for ships passing through the strait, emphasizing that freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle that cannot be compromised.
He noted that many countries, including Iran and the United States, have not signed all international maritime transport agreements, creating what he called a “legal gap.”

Iran’s proposal
Iran defends its proposal, part of a potential political settlement, which includes charging...
