2๏ธโฃ It is part of Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve, owes its name to the endemic species, Gluta travancorica, locally known as "Chenkurinj.
โถ๏ธIt shares boundary with Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve and Nellai Wildlife Sanctuary of Tamil Nadu.
3๏ธโฃ Major rivers - Shendurney, Kazhuthurutty and Kulathupuzha.
4๏ธโฃ Forest Types: Myristica swamp forest.
5๏ธโฃ Fauna: Elephant, Gaur, Sambar, Wild bear, Malabar giant squirrel, Nilgiri langur, Lion-Tailed macaque

โ Implementation:
๐ Nodal Agency โ Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
๐ Implemented under PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
๐ โน1 crore per village allocated, executed by State Renewable Energy Development Agencies (SREDA).
โ Key Features:
๐ธ Solarization of all households, water systems, streetlights, and public areas.
๐ธ Financial Assistance: โน1 crore per village based on Detailed Project Report (DPR).
๐ธ Fund Disbursement: 40%-40%-20% model ensuring effective execution.
๐ Empowering villages with clean energy for a sustainable future!
