Whoring out our minds to malformed theories and uninspired teachers, like prostitutes of the mind, all for a meaningless number that disguises itself with the hope of a better tomorrow.
We are seeing our grades this week and I am in this mood again.

So a while ago i made a snake game in rust. The game had two UIs, a TUI and a GUI. When i made that game i was using the i3 window manger which uses xorg as a display server, now i am using hyprland which is a wayland display server.
Here is what happened the GUI version of the snake game was using a lib called

microquad to actually draw the window and it turns out that microquad doesn't support wayland (the new display server i am using) so i can't run the GUI version without switching my display server to xorg. The other problem, the TUI library i was using
ruscii needs to talk to your display server to get your keyboard input. Guess what they don't support wayland either π they only support xorg, so the screen get's drawn and the snake moves across the screen but i can't move it around because the program expects an xorg display server to be running to know which keys i click on.What does this mean?

wayland because if my own program doesn't support it why would i expect other people's programs to support it π.GitHub

"The Economics of Programming Languages" by Evan Czaplicki (Strange Loop 2023)
In the mythology of open source, programming languages are created by people who seemingly have no direct economic function. They are just really good at compilers (somehow) and have a house to live in (somehow) and have a lifetime to devote to creating aβ¦
The people who get rich in software are the ones who create the tools that other people use. It's not about the language you use, but about the value you create.
Look at DHH (first image, creator of Ruby on Rails) and Taylor (second image, creator of Laravel).
They're both successful, but they didn't get rich by using PHP or Ruby. They got rich by making tools that millions of developers use every day.
