Nothing makes me feel cooler than coding in the dark. Everything else falls into the void except me and the code.

Just got insulted by YouTube.
Imagine the meeting they had to add this "Our users will be confused we gotta tell them that they are still on YouTube."

D3 is just BDUF with a new name
the most unreadable title ever given to anything

A 2 hour and 50 minutes stream and 139 lines of code. Is that bad?

People often talk about the question Is math Discovered or Invented?. And of course there are many ideas in math that show that math, if you divorce it from the symbols and the notation, the actual theorems that you will be left with are fundamental truths about the universe. But have you ever thought of programming languages as being invented or discovered? Because some programming languages make you so effective that sometimes it feels like the program is writing itself (and I'm not talking about copilot devs 😁) and there are other programming languages that make you think about 11 other changes you have to make before you write the next line of code.

Which programming languages do you think were invented?

Which ones do you think were discovered?

Or does the idea of being invented or discovered not apply to programming languages?

Is the difference between programming languages merely notational? Because you can write any program in any kind of programming language.

If you don't have anything to do today, explore this site. Based on what I've read, I think it was set up by Ethiopian techies in the 1990s, and somehow it's still operating. Share what you find in the comments

And most of the links are broken

An Ethiopian science fiction movie made by Miguel Llansó (born in Madrid 😞). The story explores how pop culture objects will become objects of mystery in a post-apocalyptic world where the world's population has been reduced to a near-apocalyptic level.

Disclaimer: I have not watched the movie and read the article linked for more info.

I was listening to a podcast where the author said he was inspired to write the story when he was living in Addis Ababa. He saw how western culture has influenced African culture so much, that the trash on the streets is mostly made up of western brands. He wrote the story to answer the question of how these objects (the trash) will be seen and interpreted in a near future world where their sources are forgotten.
