A place for me to talk about my projects, stuff i find on the internet and what I am currently thinking about.

I just finished watching this movie, it's really good. It's about the history of Blackberry.

And for all you sunny fans, Glenn (Dennis) plays one of the main characters in it. The guy he is playing in the movie has anger management issues much like Dennis. It's kind of like what would happen if Dennis from sunny was the CEO of a major tech company 😁.

The last scene of the movie where Mike was fixing the phones from china was perfect πŸ‘Œ.

Here's a quote from the movie

Jim: Mike, are you familiar with the saying "perfect is the enemy of good"?
Mike: Well, good enough is the enemy of humanity.

I just ❀️ Rust.

This is all the code it took to embed a directory of files generated from a frontend build tool (in this case it's svelte kit) directly into a rust binary. I thought it would be harder to implement.

I used a crate include_dir, to load the files and i wrote the code for integrating it with the web server lib am using warp.

I guess they announced a VR product, but i missed it. I wasn't watching the live video. I guess i am gonna watch the recorded video like a chump.

A well thought out and informative analysis of ethiopia's economy, the kind i'd never seen before.

I literally gasped when i read that effectively the government is using the official pegged exchange rate as being a 50% tax on sellers. never thought of it that way.

Some pics from a Svelte + Rust project i am working on. I am writing good old raw CSS (no design system, no tailwind). So i know the UI looks shitty but at least it's unique 😁
I have been working on this project actively for approximately a week. Today i am making the repo public. πŸŽ‰

I know there isn't much there yet but checkout the readme, checkout the code and more importantly leave a star 😁.

I just realized that all of the technologies i am using for the project are the most loved technologies from the stack overflow survey

Rust = the most loved language
Svelte = the second most loved web technology, phoenix (the elixir web framework) took the first place last year, but svelte was the most loved web technology for a couple of years before 2022.
PostgreSQL = the most loved database

So i guess ❀️ was the first criteria i used to assemble this tech stack 😁

Finally here is the repo

I created these graphics on excalidraw.com to explain how the analytics logic is implemented in Trantor.

Trantor is now deployed πŸŽ‰.

I have a free AWS account so i deployed it there. The server is running on a t2.micro EC2 instance (felt weird saying that πŸ˜‚) and the db is running on a db.t3.micro (the smallest db you can deploy πŸ˜‚), so the deployment is very weak and slow so go easy on it. If you want to checkout how the service works comment on this post saying you want access and i will send you the user credentials you need to sign in (a user id and a secret code).
