There's a new documentary about space companies from Ashlee Vance called WILD WILD SPACE. It's not about Space X although it's the biggest one, there are also other companies doing interesting stuff in space, the doc highlights those companies. From watching the doc, here is my conclusion about the companies

Planet Labs - i should fear them
Rocket Lab - cool company with a crazy story
Astra - posers, don't think they will make it

It's so crazy that most of the whole open source community doesn't care about it's primary place for doing work being a closed source platform.
