It's November 2024, Egypt is invading Ethiopia. They are coming from the east via Somalia, coming from the north and the west via Sudan. All the major cities are being bombed by MiG-29M/M2 jets. The Ethiopian Army is being spread too thin. The government has started asking the public for voluntary military service.

America has sent 30 military transport aircraft to rescue some people. They have announced that they will take some Ethiopians with them.

Egypt was an allegory for poverty here. We are being invaded by it from every direction possible but for decades nearly all of the young educated people's dream is escaping to another country.

With Adwa we have won against the threat of a foreign invader but in the subsequent years we have lost to the much more important threat of our own poverty.

What's the highest valuation ever reached by a single employee company? I think the rise of LLMs could unlock this kind of productivity in the near future. We could see single employee companies with near unicorn valuations.

just wrote my first lisp interpreter. it's slow and lacks a ton of functionality, but learning how to make it was a very cool experience. looking forward to implement more features.
