How Lisp is designing Nanotechnology (with Prof. Christian Schafmeister)

this guy made a custom common lisp implementation called clasp that make calling c++ code easier
then he made cando, a framework for designing and simulating molecules 🀯
he is funded by DARPA they have already synthesized molecules that were designed using this
checkout the interview for more

this is effectively a system for programming molecules and it's in lisp, feynman would have been proud, this was the point of that there's plenty of room at the bottom talk.
here is an fp lesson for you all

pure functions are just look up tables

a pure function maps a specific input to a specific output just like a look up table or a hash map

AASTU is way better than AAU how the heck did they get this guy to give a talk https://t.me/AASTUSE/2612
AAU (EiABC and AAiT) student councils organize football matches = 🀑

while the AASTU student council invites a NASA scientist to give a talk = πŸ—Ώ

The Abstraction is the Machine

We suffer -- tremendously -- from a bias from traditional engineering that writing code is like digging a ditch: that it is a mundane activity best left to day labor -- and certainly beneath the Gentleman Engineer. This belief is profoundly wrong because software is not like a dam or a superhighway or a power plant: in software, the blueprints _are_ the thing; the abstraction _is_ the machine.

I remember setting up 2 printers at my high school, it was really easy you just had to follow the instructions.

and another time at some office they were having trouble with their printer because it was not being detected over the wifi, I don't remember how exactly I did it but I fixed it and I remember them being mesmerized 🀣

people are really afraid of printers
