Selection Day
βββββββββββββββββββββββββ
Today, my name was officially posted on the agency's main bulletin board. Out of thousands of applicants, I don't know whether it's good luck or bad luck that got me chosen for Project Exodus. A one-way mission into the deep unknowns of the galaxy, a place untouched by humanity. Honestly, my hands shook a little when I signed the contract. I know that once the rocket launches, there is no turning back to Earth.
There's this strange feeling creeping in. Like... thereβs something out there, waiting for me.
Tomorrow is a 6-hour space-walk simulation underwater. I have to survive this. I have to make it out of this old planet.βββββββββββββββββββββββββ

Earth already looks as small as a blue marble through the rear window. I'm actually here. After all that brutal training and the suffocating pressure of the launch, I am finally flying through the deep unknown. Before my eyes, there is nothing but an eternal darkness peppered with billions of stars.
The journey inside this capsule feels incredibly silent. The only sound I can hear is the constant hum of the life support system and my own heartbeat. In this zero-gravity phase, I float freely inside the cockpit, staring at the flashing monitors on the dashboard. The distance numbers from home are slowly ticking up, confirming that I am getting further away from everything I've ever known.
But amidst the awe of being out here, a strange, sinking feeling is creeping in. Itβs an unsettling gut instinct, a heavy knot in my chest that I can't quite shake off. Something feels... off. The silence out here suddenly feels less like peace and more like a warning.
I grab my little planet keychain that is floating in the air beside me, staring out into the pitch-black void. I am officially too far gone to turn back, but for some reason, my survival instincts are screaming that something is about to happen.βββββββββββββββββββββββββ
