There was a general threat to the entire crypto industry this last week. Incase you are unaware, crypto almost died this last week. For the first time in history, USDT our base currency in COTP lost its peg to $1. It fell by 6%, people panicked and there was a general run on it. For the first time ever $710 million was withdrawn from USDT whale accounts in one hour. Incase you don't still get it. All of crypto is anchored by stable coins, chief of which is USDT. When people panic due to market crashes they would ordinarily move their funds back into a stable coins for safety until the markets stabilises again. Now imagine if USDT the chief of the stable coins crashes, the impact would be best left to imagination. Take note that within this same period, another stable coin the LUNA UST crashed and all their investors funds went to zero within 48hours.
What needs to be done now?
1. All business operating with USDT needed to take preemptive action to stop a general run on the market to halt the depegging of USDT.
This has been achieved and in progress. This is like what banks do around Christmas or holidays when everybody wants to collect money at once. They shut down operations. People complain and whine but in the end they will be better off because the bank system is protected and their money kept. Safe.
2. Investors in USDT like we have here should go about their normal business. If possible take your eyes and mind off COTP for some time and come back when things normalise. Don't put pressure on the system; Adding to the panic will hurt you first and if not halted will eventually hurt the business and industry.
3. If this was a rug pull, it would have all ended days ago, the website would have become inaccessible and all the accounts would have become empty, zero balance.
