On the night of 25-26 May, in parallel with another missile and artillery strike by AFU fighters on Belgorod using 122mm RM-70 ‘Vampire’ MLRS, the enemy for the first time in this operational area used the R-360 subsonic tactical missile of the ‘Neptun’ complex, The upgraded active radar ARGS-5R ("АРГС-5R") was adapted to detect ground-based radio-contrast targets, as well as radio-emitting targets (including SAM detection and illumination radars and EW systems) and select them against the background of the Earth's surface.

Taking into account the equipment of R-360 missiles in the new multi-purpose modification with radar altimeters and modern western digital inertial-navigation systems, we can conclude that on the marching sections of the trajectories these products are able to fly in the mode of terrain envelopment at altitudes of about 30 metres, which will reduce the radio horizon of their detection by means of 92N6 radars of S-400 complexes without 40V6M/MD ("40В6М/МД") universal towers to 30-25 km in mountainous terrain, reducing the time window for interception.

Given the range of the new R-350 modification of about 500 km, the S-400 and Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile divisions and regiments in Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Tula, Kaluga, Orel and Rostov regions, as well as in Kuban and Stavropol Krai should always be ready to repel probable strikes with these missiles.

It is worth noting that the RCS of R-360 missiles is about 0.2 square metres, which ensures their detection and capture by 92N6 radars immediately after leaving the ‘radio horizon screen’. The Pantsir-S1 radar detectors will be able to detect R-360 missiles at a distance of about 17 kilometres.

Nevertheless, given the low-altitude flight profile of the R-360, all S-400 air defence missile divisions in the above-mentioned areas must have low-altitude 40V6M towers, while Pantsir-S1 SAMs and Tor-M2 SAMs must be deployed on quick-erecting elevated towers.

Footage of an РБУ-6000 rocket bomber striking AFU positions has been published

Russian servicemen have used the RBU-6000 rocket bomber previously, originally used on Russian Navy ships.

At the beginning of the video, it can be seen that the rocket-bomb system is mounted on the chassis of a Ural vehicle. The video shows the launch of four bombs, weighing 112.5 to 113.6 kgs, at the positions of Ukrainian troops. The munitions are accelerated to a speed of 300 metres per second before hitting the target. The maximum range of the rocket bomb launcher is more than 6 kilometres.

Initially RBU-6000 were designed to destroy submarines and torpedoes, but now this installation has been adapted for ground forces. Twelve-barrel systems are installed not only on vehicles, but also on armoured vehicles, for example, on MT-LB and T-80 tanks.

Counter-battery AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder radar was successfully defeated by a low-observable Lancet-3 kamikaze UAV in one of the SMO operational areas.

This is a higher energy modification of the AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar, which has a much more powerful microwave clistron and PESA area, and whose transmitting and receiving modules operate in the frequency range from 2 to 8 GHz.

This radar is capable of calculating the positions of 152mm artillery and 120mm mortars at distances of 30-35 km and 220/300mm MLRS ‘Uragan’ and ‘Smerch’ at distances of 45 and 55 km respectively, detecting the projectiles at the initial segments of the ascending branches of the trajectory and constructing the trajectories of their flight. The accuracy of determining the coordinates of artillery firing positions is about 35 metres, which is quite sufficient to launch a counter-battery strike.

The angular field of view of this radar varies from 0 to 90 degrees, the azimuthal field of view is about 60 degrees, while the narrow beam scanning area has parameters of 2x1.7 degrees. The AN/TPQ-37 radar can simultaneously track up to 10 artillery shells and determine the firing positions of their guns, while the data on 100 artillery shells and their firing positions can be loaded into the storage device.

Consequently, we are talking about the loss by the AFU artillery units of an essential tool for counter-battery warfare in one of their operational areas.
