Magnetically attractive loop by , #marianacabugueira, and #pada.labs, is the new Hyper loop campus proposal in Nevada, United States. The structure resonates along the abstract lines of an infinity symbol, knitting the arid desert landscape. The new campus titled #Nucleus imagines rising above being a mere building to an aficionado sanctuary of science.

Recently, iF Design Talent Award was revealed. One professor, along with several students from School of Architecture & Design worked together to design this Water Condensation Device.

The project aims at the problem of obtaining water resources in arid regions. It applies the principle of plant aerial rooting, uses renewable resources such as local #African #bamboo as the #outer #frame, and #recyclable #membrane as the internal condensation device. When the air passes through the device, and water vapor is captured to obtain a clean water source. The overall simplicity, easy construction and low maintenance cost, can effectively reduce the problem of water scarcity in arid areas.

A complex design and an inflexible completion date made the Sydney Coliseum, a performance center in South Wales, Australia, a challenging construction project.

Groat: We had to go back and redesign some of our own work to fit in with the building. That does have an impact on time, but we were able to minimize it because it was done in the BIM 360 models.

The challenge with construction is that construction needs to take a digital idea and make it into something physical. And what you do in between is really the magic.

The concept evolved to incorporate a series of powder-coated steel “house” frames which march rhythmically through the space. Clad with a mixture of custom acrylic & wood eyeglass display boxes and mirrored surfaces, the frames have integral lighting which allow the viewer to try on eyewear and see themselves from many angles concurrently in their own private viewing gallery.
