What is Water Risk Filter? It is an online tool co-developed by the WWF that helps evaluate the severity of risk places faced by graphically illustrating various factors that can contribute to water risk.

Yellow Dust
: It is a meteorological phenomenon during which sand from deserts in China and Mongolia are carried by high speed surface winds into both North and South Korea.

How is it harmful? The sand particles tend to mix with other toxic substances such as industrial pollutants as a result of which the ‘yellow dust’ is known to cause a number of respiratory ailments.

Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region(NCR) and adjoining areas

Why was it set up? To tackle air pollution and to monitor and improve air quality in the National Capital Region(NCR) and adjoining areas.

Composition: The Commission will be a permanent body.It will have over 20 members and will be chaired by a retired official of the level of Secretary to the Government of India or Chief Secretary of a state.

Powers:
○ It can supersede all existing bodies such as the CPCB and even the state governments of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh in matters of air pollution and air quality management.
○ It will have powers to restrict the setting up of industries in vulnerable areas, and will be able to conduct site inspections of industrial units.
○ If its directions are contravened, the Commission will have the power to impose a fine of up to Rs. 1 crore and imprisonment of up to 5 years.

Shanghai Cooperation Organisation(SCO)

What is SCO? It is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation founded in 2001 by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Who are the members? China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

SCO has two Permanent Bodies
○ SCO Secretariat in Beijing, and
○ Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) in Tashkent.

Chairmanship: The Chairmanship of SCO is by rotation for a year by Member States.

Why in News? The 20th Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State was held under the chairmanship of Russia

Ayushman Sahakar Scheme:

Formulated by: National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).

Purpose: To extend term loans to prospective cooperatives for the setting up of healthcare related infrastructure, education and services.

National Monsoon Mission

Launched by: Ministry of Earth Sciences in 2012.

Aim: To improve the forecasting skills by setting up a state-of-the-art dynamic prediction system for monsoon rainfall different time scales.

What is Djibouti Code of Conduct/ Jeddah Amendment(DCOC/JA)

● It was established in 2009.It is a grouping on maritime matters aimed at repression of piracy and armed robbery against ships in the Western Indian Ocean Region, the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

Members: It comprises 18 member states adjoining the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, the East Coast of Africa and Island countries in the Indian Ocean Region.

Why in News? India has joined the Djibouti Code of Conduct/ Jeddah Amendment (DCOC/JA) as Observer.

🔺RAISE 2020- ‘Responsible AI for Social Empowerment 2020′

Organized by: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in association with the NITI Aayog.

● It is Department of Biotechnology initiative for research and development (R&D) of the Indian Covid vaccine.

What is a Technical Recession?

● It is a term used to describe two consecutive quarters of decline in output.In the case of a nation’s economy, the term usually refers to back-to-back contractions in real GDP.

Difference between Technical Recession and Recession: The technical recession is mainly used to capture the trend in GDP but the Recession encompasses an appreciably more broad-based decline in economic activity that covers several economic variables including employment, household and corporate incomes and sales at businesses.
