-Income Approach: Human development is seen as being linked to income. The idea is that the level of income reflects the level of freedom an individual enjoys. Higher the level of income, the higher is the level of human development.

-Welfare Approach: This approach looks at human beings as beneficiaries or targets of all development activities. The approach argues for higher government expenditure on education, health, social secondary amenities. People are not participants in development but only passive recipients

- Basic needs Approach: This approach was initially proposed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Six basic needs i.e. health, education, food, water supply, sanitation, and housing were identified. The question of human choices is ignored and the emphasis is on the provision of basic needs of defined sections.

- Capability Approach: This approach is associated with Prof. Amartya Sen.
Building human capabilities in the areas of health, education and access to resources is the key to increasing human development

AUSTRALIAN GROUP
• Established in 1985 during Chemical Weapon use in Iran-
Iraq war in 1984
• It is aimed at controlling exports of biological and
chemical agents used as weapons.
• Headquartered in Paris, its members include India, US,
Canada, EU, Turkey, Argentina, Australia, Japan etc.
WASSEGNAR ARRANGEMENT
• It is a multilateral export control treaty that aims to
regulate the export of conventional arms/munitions and dual-use goods and technology.
• It includes not only arms but also technologies that can be
used for military purposes including computers, sensors,
lasers, electronics, surveillance technologies etc.
• Currently, it has 42 members including India, US, Canada,
Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Japan, Russia, South Africa etc
MISSILE TECHNOLOGY CONTROL REGIME
• Established in 1987, MTCR aims to regulate the export of
weapon delivery systems signatories to non-signatories.
• It restricts export of weapon delivery system that delivers
any type of weapon including conventional weapons,
chemical weapons, biological weapons and nuclear
weapons.
• Accordingly weapons delivery system carrying more than
500 kg payload for over 300 km is restricted under MTCR.
Sixth Mass Extinction
• Many scientists have warned that the 6th mass extinction of life on earth is unfolding various forms of disasters.
• The main drivers of wildlife decline are habitat loss, overconsumption, pollution, invasive species, disease, as well as poaching in the case of tigers, elephants, rhinos and other large animals prized for their body parts.
• The ultimate cause of all these factors is human over population and continued population growth & over consumption

Funds under NRLM


1]NRLM provides Revolving Fund (RF) to SHGs
of Rs.10,000-15,000 as corpus to meet the members’ credit needs directly and as catalytic capital for leveraging repeat bank finance. RF is given to SHGs that have been practicing ‘Panchasutra’ (Regular meetings; Regular savings; regular inter-loaning; Timely repayment; and Up-to-date books of accounts).

2]NRLM provides Community Investment Fund as Seed Capital to SHG Federations at Cluster level to meet the credit needs of the members through the SHGs/Village Organizations and to meet the working capital needs of the collective activities at various levels.

3]NRLM provides Vulnerability Reduction Fund (VRF) to SHG Federations at Village level to address vulnerabilities like food security, health security etc., and to meet the needs of the vulnerable persons in the village

Advisory Board for Banking Frauds (ABBF)

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has constituted an ‘Advisory Board for Banking Frauds (ABBF)’ to examine bank fraud of over Rs.50 crore and recommend action.

The ABBF would also periodically carry out frauds analysis in the financial system and give inputs for policy formulation related to the fraud to the RBI

A sovereign bond is a specific debt instrument issued by the government. They can be denominated in both foreign and domestic currency. Like other bonds, these also promise to pay the buyer a certain amount of interest for a stipulated number of years and repay the face value on maturity.

International IP Index

International IP Index is published by US Chamber of Commerce Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC). It is an annual index which ranks countries on the basis of the Intellectual Property Rights framework.


India improved its score in the latest edition of the International IP Index, while its position dropped from 36 in 2019 to 40 in 2020 (among 53 countries).
