Corporate Debt Market Development Fund

● Recently, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced the ‘Corporate Debt Market Development Fund’ to prevent financial crisis.

About :

● The ‘Corporate Debt Market Development Fund (CDMDF) is a backstop facility for specified debt funds during market dislocations.

● The fund is intended to provide liquidity support in the event of a financial crisis.

● The proposed CDMDF will have an initial corpus of Rs 3,000 crore contributed by mutual funds.

● The government has approved a 10-time leverage of the fund (Additional corpus), thus CDMDF may raise funds up to Rs 30,000 crore.

● Contributions to the fund can be done by the specified debt-oriented mutual fund schemes and asset management companies of mutual funds.

● This fund is guaranteed by the National Credit Guarantee Trust Company (NCGTC) and the backstop facility will be managed by SBI Mutual Fund.

Global Methane Assessment: 2030 Baseline Report

● Released by Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) and UNEP
● Report examines baseline projections of methane emissions over the coming decade and implications for the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) target.
● The report's key findings highlight that the amount of methane in the atmosphere is 260% of pre-industrial levels, with human-driven methane emissions responsible for nearly 45% of current net warming.
● The report also notes that 2021 saw the largest annual increase recorded.

Lunar Polar Exploration (LUPEX) Mission

● LUPEX is a robotic lunar mission by ISRO and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
● The mission aims to send lunar rover and lander to explore the South Pole region of the Moon in 2024.
● Objective :- It will demonstrate new surface exploration technologies related to vehicular transport and test lunar night survival capabilities for sustainable lunar exploration in the region.
● Contribution :- JAXA is likely to provide the H3 launch vehicle and the rover. While ISRO would be responsible for the lander for this mission.

All India Tiger Estimation - 2022

● Report on 9th April at an event in Mysuru to mark 50 years of the country's Project Tiger campaign as well as launch of International Big Cat Alliance.

● India is now home to 3,167 tigers, 200 more than it had four years ago (2967 in 2018, 2,226 in 2014), according to estimates from the latest tiger census.

● India is estimated to have more than 70% of the world's tigers.

According to the 2022 report,

● Highest increase in tiger population has been observed in the Shivalik- Gangetic landscape in the north

● Second highest increase is in Central India, where tigers have entered new areas in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.

● Western Ghats Area showed a decline in tiger population.
