Controlling the Inflation and Growth of Production; Slogan of Iran's Nowruz

Ahmad Reza Taheri

One of the requirements for the implementation of "curbing inflation and growth of production" is to change our economic policies and approaches. If we have not been able to advance in the economy according to the expectations, it is mostly because the economic policies and approaches have not been...

🔺Guided Democracy

There are also other names for guided democracy, including managed democracy, semi-democracy, anocracy, and hybrid regime. Guided democracy usually is referred to a formally democratic government that functions as a de facto authoritarian government or in some cases, as an autocratic government. It is legitimized by elections that are seem to be free and fair, but do not change the state's policies and goals. Under guided democracy, the state's use of propaganda techniques prevents the electorate from having a significant impact on policy. In other words, guided democracy is a form of regime that mixes democratic with autocratic features. Such regimes are found in developing countries with abundant natural resources.

Traditional Man in the war of values between Tradition and Modernism

Ahmad Reza Taheri

♨️ Many traditional societies today are in a transition or tension between tradition and modernism, some less and some more. Even in cases, traditional societies are placed between tradition, modernism and post-modernism.

♨️ Although modernism and post-modernism have many benefits, their negative consequences for a traditional society cannot be ignored. Perhaps the most important of them is challenging the tradition. For example, contrary to tradition in modernism, science, knowledge, ideas and beliefs cannot be considered absolute.

♨️ In the transition from tradition to modernism, people face cultural and social changes. In this process, those who have intellectual flexibility and are receptive to changes try to adapt themselves to the conditions and as a result, they accept the issues that appear along with this process.

♨️ But, the main problem is for traditional man. Traditional man tries to fight this phenomenon in different ways, but with the traditional tools at his disposal, in the end he does not succeed in defeating modernism, because the era of using those tools is either coming to an end or has ended.

♨️ In today's growing world (in terms of communication and technology), traditional alternatives cannot be found for traditional values. Therefore, slowly and gradually, man is forced to use modern value alternatives. In a world where culture is becoming globalized day by day, with the arrival of new generation, new ideas arise and since the ideas are different, they challenge social traditions. Every phenomenon has a period, and when it ends, it becomes part of the history. Thus, the traditional values of a society are not exceptional.

♨️ In this war of social values, apparently, nothing can be done by traditional man. Therefore, it seems that before the time impose modern values on the traditional man, man himself should prepare the conditions to adapt to such changes.

♨️ Today's technology also seem to be at the service of non-traditional factors (modernism, post-modernism, liberalism, globalization) rather than traditional factors. If a tradition is opposed to technology, it means that it has placed itself against non-traditional values. The result of this cultural battle can disrupt the status quo and create problems (cultural and political) for the system of the society that is in transition.

♨️ It sounds that at the end of this cultural conflict, tradition has no choice but to gradually give in and embrace the non-traditional values.

♻️ Doctrine of Two Swords; St Augustine

♻️ St. Augustine, who lived in the fourth century, is credited with being the first person to articulate the doctrine of the two swords. He argued that the Church and the State were two separate spheres of authority, and that each had its own domain and its own sphere of influence.

📄 Enlightened Despotism

It is a form of government that developed in some European countries in the 18th century. The objective is to combine absolute monarchy with Enlightenment ideas.
However, it is wrong to claim that this form of government did not exist before the18th century. The Pharaoh of Egypt is a hallmark of a classical despot. Modern enlightened despots believe that royal power emanated not from divine right but from a social contract whereby a despot was entrusted with the power to govern and strengthen his authority by improving the lives of the subjects.
Enlightened despotism can be seen as the final stage of absolute monarchy, because this gradually has led to a new concept of governmental power under public law.

Ahmad RezaTaheri also talked about the U.S. strategy towards the countries of the region, pointing that: The American experience shows this country uses two different strategies in its hostile approach towards the countries of the region. The first is military approach. This happens when the U.S. realizes they can overthrow a political system in a short period of time. The attacks on Taliban in 2001, on Iraq under Saddam Hussein, and Libya in 2011, can be mentioned as notable examples...👇

💢 If you collect 100 black ants and 100 red ants and put them in a jar, nothing will happen. But if you take the jar and shake it violently and leave it on a table, the ants will start killing each other. The red believe the black is the enemy, and black think the red is the enemy, while the real enemy is the one who shook the jar. The same is true in society. Men versus women, white versus black, faith versus science, etc...

💢 Before we fight each other, we should ask ourselves who shook the jar!?

🔺Politicians start wars.
🔺Merchants sell weapons and war equipments.
🔺Ordinary people go to defend their nations and fight.

AFTER the WAR...

🔻Politicians shake hands with each other.
🔻Merchants gain profit and become richer.
🔻Ordinary people cry and pray on the graves of their loved ones.

And, this continues, simply because, human being is intellectually immature.

📜 Question of Development in the Iranian Baloch Society: The Other Side of the Issue

Ahmad Reza Taheri

The Baloch are adhering to their traditional and religious beliefs. Religious elites promote these beliefs and hence they have a special place in the hearts of the people. However, due to the influence of modern Persian culture and globalization, modern way of life have somewhat overshadowed some of the Balochi traditional values. Yet, modern values like secular world view have not totally undermined the Balochi religious values. Some aspects of traditionalism, such as fatalism have often challenged the issue of development in the Baloch society. The present paper deals with the role of Iranian Baloch elites in cultural, economic, and political development of the Baloch society under the Islamic Republic by focusing on three major questions: First, how far the local culture has pushed forward the Baloch society? Second, does the Baloch elites' contribution in private sector help in privatization or entrepreneurship? And, third, to what extent the political participation of Baloch has lifted their political culture?
