Недавно у них вышел интересный материал про все видимые надписи в Нью-Йорке. Вот прям взяли панорамы из google street view и проанализировали все слова и фразы, которые можно прочитать.

Мне больше всего понравились карты с локализацией конкретных слов, например, "Luxury" в районе Hudsons, "Gold" в районе "Diamond District", и просто слово "пицца" по всему Нью-Йорку. Можно еще и сами картинки посмотреть.

(1) Omega Speedmaster “Alaska Project”

The Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project was a secret initiative launched around 1968–1969 to develop a version of the Moonwatch capable of surviving extreme conditions, such as lunar temperature swings and cosmic radiation, at the request of NASA. The result was a prototype housed in a bright red anodized aluminum outer case, which acted as a heat shield, and featured a white zinc‑oxide dial, resized “capsule” hands, and temperature-resistant materials.

In 2008, Omega commemorated the original concept with a limited-edition reissue of 1,970 pieces (the number is a reference to the year of the original Alaska Project prototypes). Today selling for $15,000–$25,000 USD on the secondary market depending on condition and completeness.


(2) Laarvee Pea001

When I first saw an image of this watch online, I thought it was a joke. Like someone had taken a boring watch into Photoshop and distorted it using the Liquify filter. But no, the Laarvee PEA001 is the debut automatic wristwatch from the South Korea–based brand Laarvee, featuring a signature twisted dial housed in a 45 × 40 mm stainless steel case, with a ceramic bezel and a Miyota automatic movement.

The standard model retails for $519 USD on the official Laarvee website, with special editions and artist collaborations priced higher. The design looks completely insane, but I’m glad someone had the guts to actually make it.


(3) FRANK MIURA Macau Gambling Watch

Frank Miura is a parody watch brand from Japan riffing on the luxury aesthetic of Franck Muller. Their Macau Gambling Watch is a quartz analog piece with an oversized, barrel-shaped case and three dice behind the glass that you can “roll” by shaking.

It’s so ridiculous, I kind of love it. The warped numbers bending with the curved face are already over the top. Sells for around $120–$260 USD, depending on the version, on sites like eBay.
