Ibnul-Qayyim (rahimahullฤh) also said: โWhen a person is moderate in his eating and takes only so much of it as he needs, keeping a balance of quantity and quality, the body benefits more from this than it does from a large amount of food. There are three degrees of eating:
1. Out of need;
2. In moderation;
3. In excessโฆโ (At-Tibb An-Nabawฤซ p.20; Medicine of the Prophet, ITS, p13.)
Imฤm Abdur-Rahmฤn As-Saโdi (died 1375 AH, rahimahullฤh) said:
โThe foundations of medicine [or good health] are:
1. Controlling and managing oneโs nourishment, so that a person does not eat unless he has the appetite for it,
2. that he completely digests the food he has previously eaten,
3. that he researches, investigates and finds the most nutritious foods โ and this is in accordance with the state of lands, their people and their climate or conditionsโฆโ (See Bahjatu Quloobil-Abrฤr, no. 64)

ยซุฃูู ููุง ุจูุนูุฏู ููุง ุฃูู ููุฑู ุงููู ูุคูู ูููููู ููุงุนูููู ู ุฃูููู ุงูุฏููููููุงโโ ููููุณูุชู ุจูุฏูุงุฑู ุฅูููุงู ูุฉูุ ููุฅููููู ูุง ุฃูููุจูุทู ุฅูููููููุง ุขุฏูู ู ุนููููุจูุฉูุ
"To proceed: O Commander of the Believers, know that this world is not a place of settlement. Indeed, Adam was only cast down into it as a punishment.
ููุจูุญูุณูุจู ู ููู ููุง ููุฏูุฑูู ุซูููุงุจู ุงูููููู ุฃูููููู ุซูููุงุจูุ ููุจูุญูุณูุจู ู ููู ููุง ููุฏูุฑูู ุนูููุงุจู ุงูููููู ุฃูููููู ุนูููุงุจูุ
It is enough (of a delusion) for one who does not recognize the reward of Allah that he mistakes this world for a reward. And it is enough (of a misjudgment) for one who does not understand the punishment of Allah that he imagines being denied this world is the punishment.
ููููุณูุชู ุตูุฑูุนูุชูููุง ููุงูุตููุฑูุนูุฉูุ ุชูููููู ู ููู ุฃูููุฑูู ูููุงุ ููุชูุนูุฒูู ู ููู ุฃูุฐููููููุงุ ููุชูุฐูููู ู ููู ุฃูุนูุฒููููุงุ ููุชูููููุฑู ู ููู ุฌูู ูุนูููุงุ ููููููุง ููู ููููู ุญูููู ููุชููููุ
Its blow of defeat is unlike any other: it degrades those who honor it, and elevates those who scorn it. It disgraces the one who seeks status through it, and impoverishes the one who amasses it. With every moment, it claims a new victim.
ููุงูุฒููููุฏู ูููููุง ุชูุฑูููููุงุ ููุงููุบูููู ูููููุง ููููุฑูููุงุ
Renunciation of it is to let it go. True wealth lies in perceiving it as poverty.
ูููู ููุงูููููู ููุง ุฃูู ููุฑู ุงููู ูุคูู ูููููู ููุงูุณููู ูู ููุฃูููููููุง ู ููู ููุง ููุนูุฑูููููุง ููุชูุดูููููููุ ูููููู ุญูุชูููููุ
By Allah, O Commander of the Believers, this world is like a deadly poisonโconsumed by the one who does not know its nature, hoping it will cure him, when in fact it brings his ruin.
ูููููู ููุง ุฃูู ููุฑู ุงููู ูุคูู ูููููู ููุงููู ูุฏูุงููู ุฌูุฑูุญูููุ ููุญูุชูู ูู ูููููููุง ู ูุฎูุงููุฉู ู ูุง ููููุฑููู ุทููููููุงุ ููููุตููุฑู ุนูููู ุดูุฏููุฉู ุงูุฏููููุงุกู ู ูุฎูุงููุฉู ุงููุจูููุงุกูุ
So be like a man tending his wound: he restrains himself briefly, fearing long-term harm; he endures bitter medicine to ward off greater affliction.
ููุฃููููู ุงููุจูุตูุงุฆูุฑู ููุง ุฃูู ููุฑู ุงููู ูุคูู ูููููู ู ูุดูููููู ู ุจูุงูุชููููุงุถูุนูุ ููู ูููุจูุณูููู ู ุจูุงููุงููุชูุตูุงุฏูุ ููู ูููุทูููููู ู ุจูุงูุตููููุงุจูุ ููู ูุทูุนูู ูููู ู ุงูุทูููููุจู ู ููู ุงูุฑููุฒูููุ
The people of insight, O Commander of the Believersโ walk with humility, dress with moderation, speak with clarity and truth, and eat from what is wholesome and pure.
ููููุฏู ููููุฐูุชู ุฃูุจูุตูุงุฑูููู ู ููู ุงููุขุฌููู ููู ูุง ููููุฐูุชู ููู ุงููุนูุงุฌูููุ ููุฎูููููููู ู ููู ุงููุจูุฑูู ููุฎูููููููู ู ููู ุงููุจูุญูุฑูุ ููุฏูุนูุงุคูููู ู ููู ุงูุณููุฑููุงุกู ููุฏูุนูุงุฆูููู ู ููู ุงูุถููุฑููุงุกูุ
Their gaze penetrates the world to come just as it sees the world before them. Their fear on land is like their fear at sea. Their supplications in ease are like their supplications in hardship.
ููููููููุง ุงููุฃูุฌููู ุงูููุฐูู ููุชูุจู ุนูููููููู ู ููู ู ุชูููุฑูู ุฃูุฑูููุงุญูููู ู ููู ุฃูุจูุฏูุงููููู ู ุฅููููุง ูููููููุง ุฎูููููุง ู ููู ุงููุนูููุงุจูุ ููุดูููููุง ุฅูููู ุงูุซููููุงุจูุ โ
Were it not for the fixed term written for them, their souls would scarcely remain in their bodies, out of fear of punishment and longing for reward.
ุนูุธูู ู โุงููุฎูุงูููู ููู ุฃูุนูููููููู ูุ ููุตูุบูุฑู ุงููู ูุฎูููููู ุนูููุฏูููู ูุ
The Creator is immense in their estimation, and all creation has diminished before them.
ููุงุฑูุถู ู ูููููุง ุจูุงููููููุงููุ ูููููููููููู ู ูุง ุจููููุบููู ุงููู ูุญููููยป
So be content with sufficiency from this world. Let what brings you to your destination suffice you."
