የዓይን ግፊት ህመም ወይም ግላኮማ የምንለው የዓይን ህመም በዓይናችን ነርቭ ላይ ችግር የሚያስከትል ሲሆን በዓይናችን ውስጥ የሚገኘው ግፊት መጨመር ምክንያት የሚከሰት ሲሆን የዚህ ግፊት መጨመር በዓይናችን የምናያቸውን ምስሎች ወደ አንጎል የሚወስደውን የዓይናችንን ነርቭ ይጎዳል። ይህም በቀጣይነት ቋሚ ለሆነ የዓይን ብርሃን እጦት ይዳርጋል።

ግላኮማው በሚጀምርበት ጊዜ የሚያሳየው ቀዳሚ ምልክት ወይንም የህመም ስሜት ስለሌለ ማንኛውንም ሰው መደበኛ የሆነ ዓይን ህክምና ማድረግ አስፈላጊ ነው። ይህም ዓይናችን ለከፋ ጉዳት ከመጋለጡ በፊት ህክምና እንድናደርግለት ይረዳናል። ከ40 ዓመት እድሜ በላይ ያሉ ሰዎች በዓመት አንድ ጊዜ ወደ ሀኪም በመሄድ ምርመራን ማድረግ አለባቸው።
