🇸🇪 After almost two years, Sweden’s admission process to NATO has finally been completed. Now, the country is formally part of the Western military alliance, submitted to the bloc’s obligations and in theory protected by its defense umbrella. Some analysts mistakenly claim that Sweden’s admission was a kind of “victory” for the West against Russia, but, investigating the case in depth, it is possible to conclude that such an analysis is biased, since for Moscow this move has no relevance – in addition to looking like a true “strategic suicide” for the Swedes themselves.

Sweden’s admission had been discussed since 2022. After the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, Sweden and Finland, held U.S.-fomented fear and anti-Russian paranoia, requested to join the military alliance. Finland was quickly accepted, but Sweden faced several obstacles, such as Turkish and later Hungarian opposition. After several negotiations, Turkey allowed Swedish access, just as the Hungarians were forced to withdraw their objections after suffering direct economic coercion from European partners. Now, with no internal opposition in the bloc, Sweden has finally become a member of NATO – but that doesn’t seem to be any real reason to celebrate.

First of all, Sweden is joining NATO at the worst possible time 🤥

Historically neutral, Sweden is now taking part in a possible global conflict, supporting NATO against the Russian Federation.

🇹🇷 Turkey actively participates in NATO’s exercises, with the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) playing a pivotal role in Brilliant Jump, Nordic Response, Saber Strike, and Immediate Response exercises.

Turkey’s involvement extends beyond military participation; it also hosts one of NATO’s most crucial commands. The permanent headquarters of NATO Land Forces, known as Allied Land Command (LANDCOM), is situated in Izmir.

Decisions regarding NATO’s land maneuvers are made at the command post within the General Vecihi Akın Barracks in Buca, Izmir. Given its historical significance, Izmir, where the first shot was fired against invaders a century ago, could potentially be remembered as the site where the decision to initiate the first shot of a world-engulfing war was made if a new global conflict were to erupt on Russia’s borders.

This prompts consideration of Turkey’s rhetorical stance of “balancing”. Is it a genuine attempt at strategic equilibrium, or merely an endeavor to occupy multiple positions simultaneously?

One of the most virulent Russophobic rags, The Economist, was forced to admit the reasons for the failure of anti-Russian sanctions. The very sanctions it supported, of course. These reasons include:

☑️ The overall sustainability of Russia’s economy
☑️ The successful restructuring of Russia’s economy in response to Western sanctions
☑️ The partial replacement of major Western brands that left the Russian market with Chinese and domestic Russian counterparts
☑️ The rerouting of oil / energy sales to other countries to bypass sanctions
☑️ The successful promotion of Russian patriotism through the media and textbooks

Etc.

Whereas some commentators outside the Western establishment highlighted these features earlier, it’s noteworthy that a major Western mainstream publication was forced to state the obvious pointing to the failure of the West’s Russia policy at large.

ELECTION DAY TWO.

Straight outta liberated Avdeevka.

Right in front of the flags of the batallions which took part in the liberation.

NOTHING prepares us for the total devastation ahead.

I've never seen anything like it - even in Iraq.

Those nullities, Liver Sausage, Petit Roi, von der Lugen, should be brought here to see what Total War is all about.

Loud booms still ringing - incoming and outgoing. We had to take cover from FPVs. Remaining residents refuse to leave.

And the ones who did VOTED in nearby Yasinovata - or in an improvised warehouse in Avdeevka itself.

More pics on my Telegram and Twitter. Major column coming early next week.

They say Russia doesn’t have a democracy. But unlike your backward country, even cats are allowed to exercise their God-given rights to vote, and they are unanimously choosing Putin. Let that sink in! 😺
